Aussie console sales figures published

360 News | 360 just being outsold by the Wii in 2007 so far.

According to Australian IT, Nintendo's Wii console has sold 68,000 units since its debut in December, whilst Microsoft's Xbox 360 has shifted 153,000 machines since launching twelve months ago. By comparison, the PlayStation 2 has sold 1.98 million units in Australia since it debuted more than six years ago.

These figures come direct from industry analyst group Gfk, and also reveal that in 2007 the Wii has sold 17,000 units, whereas the Xbox 360 has sold 13,000. The big three will often play their cards close to their chests when it comes to sales figures, so it's interesting to see that the race to be the number one console is surprisingly close.

Not surpised at all...

Mainly because the Wii is new and recent but I still won't be surpised if it continues to outsell the 360.

I wonder if all the people who bought TP on Cube, who have not got a Wii yet, will purchase one when there are more games out.

And seeing as the Wii is cheaper and Nintendo is better than sliced bread at the moment, it isn't surprising.

But what about the rest of the year? For the majority of it, there isn't much of a flow of big Wii games coming while the PS3 gets released and the 360 has some monsters coming.

That didn't help GCN too much.

Promising figures for each console. Obviously the Xbox 360 is selling less because it's been out for a while longer. Give a Halo 3 release and the masses will rise again though.

Like wise with Wii. Give a Mario or SSBB release and the masses will come fourth.

Hopefully, the PlayStation 3 will follow closely to its competitors.
