Rare developing new Xbox Live Arcade title

360 News | Ready by this year, says UK developer.
According to UK’s Edge Magazine, Rare is working on a new title for the Xbox Live Arcade, expected to be released later this year.

At the helm of the project is Nick Burton, whose most recent work includes Star Fox Adventures and Kameo: Elements of Power. Burton is working with a team of ten on the unnamed title, which will apparently retain Rare’s distinct artistic style.

The title will be an original project from the company. More as we get it.

I'm strangely excited by this news.

A small, affordable game that will have all the charm and character of a Rare title. Sounds like something to get excited about, unless of course it turns out to be something like Viva Pinata Racer or something. Actually that could turn out OK too.

I think this would mark the first time a large well respected company will have taken a stab at an Live Arcade game, so I've already got high hopes for it.

While perhaps not as large as Rare, I think you're forgetting who is behind Geo Wars. icon_wink.gif (Bizarre Creations)

But like you, I am strangely excited by this news. It's one of the future Arcade titles I am looking forward to at the moment despite not knowing a thing about it. If Rare can put the same sort of effort into this Arcade title as they did Viva Pinata (for example), then this Arcade title will be fun, accessible and full of the typical Rare charm. And that will only be a bloody fantastic thing if you ask me. icon_smile.gif

Getting Rare to create live Arcade games is a good move. I wonder what interesting things we could see from them.

I would be more interested in MS and Nintendo working together to get Rare to create ports of both Goldeneye and Perfect Dark to the Live Arcade and Virtual Console.

2D Banjo Kazooie ! Man, that would kick more arse than an arse-kicking machine.

That's true, but GeoWars was basically a remake of an easter egg that shipped with PGR2. What Rare will be doing (hopefully) is creating a brand new game built for Live Arcade. Although I really like the idea of a Goldeneye remake...

Cool. Can't wait to see what they come up with, frankly.
