Blacksite: Area 51 confirmed

360 News | It's time to invade Area 51 again.
It has been revealed today that Midway is rekindling its Area 51 franchise, as IGN has revealed that Blacksite: Area 51 is on its way to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the PC.

According to IGN, the game won’t be a linear adventure, you’ll be able to make choices along the way which will affect the storyline. The game’s description states that “"The player's modern-day emotions and fears are driven into a world charged with grave responsibility affecting lives hanging in the balance and eventually finding himself torn between his professional orders and his own ethical standards. In the end, only the actions of the player and his squad can shape the outcome of BlackSite: Area 51 during this potentially pivotal moment in history."

The game will also allow you to command a special forces squad, the morale of your squad will determine how well they perform. Vehicles will also be included in the game, giving you access to ATV’s and civilian vehicles. The game will also include a variety of online modes including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture-the-flag.

It all seems well and good at this stage. Stay tuned to PALGN for the first images of the game as they become available.

Hope it lives up to what they say.

Didn't they try to 'rekindle' the Area 51 franchise a few years ago with that terrible FPS? Hmmpf. I remain skeptical.

The Area 51 FPS wasn't great, but I'll be damned if turning into a mutant to blow enemies away wasn't fun ... although a bit overpowered if used well ...
