Resident Evil 5 expected in 2008

360 News | Not moving in anytime soon.
Vague news pieces and limited screenshots have plagued the upcoming supergame Resident Evil 5, for the Xbox 360 and PS3. It's hot off the heels of Resident Evil 4, PALGN's highest rated game ever, and one of the single greatest games ever made. It's a pretty daunting task to live up to the standard of such a winner, and the producer of Resident Evil 5 is surely making everyone wait for the goods.

Speaking to Famitsu in Japan, producer Jun Takeuchi commented that the team was still early in production - storyboarding, to be precise. They'd better get their behinds into gear, as Takeuchi is also quoting some stellar goals. Evidently the team is aiming for 60 frames per second with dynamic environmental interaction, meaning that the surrounding temperatures will play a significant role in-game.

RE4's graphics were unreal for the time, and RE5 is well on the way to matching that same success. Takeuchi mentioned the game engine, which will be capable of creating muscles in character's faces which enable extremely realistic expressions, and even hair will be modeled painstakingly from root to tip. It seems difficult to get excited about hair, but in this day and age, every pixel counts.

So does that mean instead of mixing the 'herbs' we'll have to mix up some gatorade or something to quench the thirst meter?
Wonder how that is going to work.

Bummer it's in 2008 though. icon_sad.gif

I disagree with that, 2007 has plenty of games to last all the way through the year.

Well the graphics are gonna be sweet, if thats any consideration. They really took detail on creating releastic faces, movements and hot and cold mechanics.

That is a crying shame. RE5 is the game i am dying to play the most on the next gen. Too bad though, i may just have to settle with some more quality games like the new sonic. Cracker of a game that one.

I can see that, well take it like this, it can be good or bad game rushed, the real reason of the release is that they're trying to make good as possible. I suppose the wait sucks, but the game will be good.

I sure am glad they're modelling the hair in the correct direction. I wouldn't buy the game if they did it any other way.

AWESOME!! 2008 sounds perfect to me! I just think 2007 would be too early for another Resident Evil. I don't like them coming out 1-2 years apart....3-4 seems like double the effort....meaning double the fun, action, horror etc etc! I can wait....I guarantee it'll become my fave game....so I want them to take their time with it.

I wonder if it's still Chris Redfield this time! That would be awesome! Jill would be rad too!

Looks like I won't be needing a PS3 or Xbox 360 anytime soon...

Except maybe for Lair... Still keeping my fingers crossed on that one. And Oblivion, if they've ironed out some of the kinks.

I thought I heard somewhere that Resident Evil was not going to make the 360 anytime soon, one game for the PS3 (RE5) and one for the Wii (RE: UC)

I'd be very surprised if RE5 doesn't make it to the 360. I believe Capcom stated sometime ago that they where going to react to inflated development costs by releasing their games to all consoles. I'd say RE5 would fit this pricey dev cost category. Modeling hair from root to tip? I say useless, they say give me more money. But hey, at least it'll look good.

It does look good but its not worth the increase in price

What are you talking aboot? They've always said it was coming to the PS3 and 360 many times since it was announced. What you have there is Sony fanboyism.
