50% of Australia and New Zealand's 360 owners on Xbox Live

360 News | Says Microsoft man, David McLean.
In an interview with PALGN, Regional Director for Microsoft Australia and New Zealand revealed that the number of Xbox Live subscribers in region continues to swell, to the point whereby 50% of Aussie and Kiwi 360 owners are now using the service.

"Last generation everyone knows Xbox Live was a terrific success, yet less than 10% of Xbox owners were connected to the service," stated McLean. "This time around, 60% of Xbox 360 owners worldwide are connected to Live – and that figure is around 50% when you isolate Australia and New Zealand. It’s really phenomenal to think that 1 in 2 gamers are enjoying the benefits of playing multiplayer games online, chatting with friends, downloading music and game content, and all the other great features of Xbox Live."

Australia isn't exactly known for its high speed internet connections, so the fact that 50% of users are connected to Xbox Live is rather impressive. For PALGN's full interview with David McLean head over for a read.

Is that just Live Gold, or does it include Silver too? Not very impressive if it's Silver as well.
