Ubisoft's president, Laurent Detoc believes that, "Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter set the standard for what we know as the next-generation gaming experience. With Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, Ubisoft is taking all the successful elements in the original to an unparalleled level of quality – the sophisticated technology, weaponry, graphics, story and online gameplay will heighten the intensity and bring gamers an even more amazing experience."
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 builds off the events in the first game, so once again you'll be in control of the U.S military's elite fighting unit, the Ghosts. In the year 2014, the rising conflict between Mexican loyalists and insurgent rebel forces has thrown Mexico into full-scale civil war. Under the command of Captain Scott Mitchell, the Ghosts are called upon to face an imminent threat to the United States. The fate of two countries now lies in the hands of the Ghosts as they fend off an attack on U.S. soil. The ghosts are equipped with the most cutting edge weaponry and technology, but they'll need to battle on both sides of the border to neutralize the escalating rebel threat.
The original GRAW was a good-looking game, but GRAW 2 promises to look even better. You'll navigate through trash-strewn streets and target enemies from behind bomb-scarred structures. The game's physics and particle systems will show you some of the most intense and realistic explosions. The environment destruction also promises to be unprecedented, and the game will also feature dynamic lighting and shadows, real time day and night cycles, and even a consistently changing weather system which will require you to adjust to the conditions on the fly.
The game will also include all new battlegrounds, so for the first time ever the Ghosts will defend U.S. soil from a cross-border attack. The Ghosts will battle enemies in mountain terrains, deserts and on their home turf in El Paso, Texas. The AI has been given an overhaul too; you'll need to watch your back as rebels send their own team members to flank your position or gain vantage points by utilizing vertical gameplay to pick you off from the rooftops above. The AI has been improved for your squad mates too, so apparently you'll get descriptive commands such as, "enemy spotted behind red truck ahead.”
The cross-com has had an overhaul, with the new cross-com 2.0 giving the player more information than ever before. You'll be able to see what your friendly forces see in the top left display, and you'll also be able to expand that to a full screen view with the click of a button. The new full command view will allow some detailed precision when issuing tactical plans on the battlefield.
The game will also allow you to command lethal air strikes with jet fighters, gain mobile cover for otherwise impassable situations and replenish armaments on the battlefield using an unmanned artillery MULE. Players can now heal their team on the battlefield with an all-new Medic class of soldier. Ubisoft has also sent through the first teaser trailer for GRAW2 and the first images, and the game is already sounding very impressive. Stay tuned to PALGN for the latest information on Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 as soon as it becomes available.
