Luke has disappeared, so I'm going to remain for this Live update (pun intended). Starting. David has taken the stage. Someone has pulled my power - I can't get it back up, so this could be short.

16:15
Showing off Live anywhere. Showing a demo from Major Nelson. Showing Vista desktop - receiving a gamer invite on his PC from Xbox 360. Shows how a player can play Shadow Run on their PC against someone on an Xbox 360.

16:17
Presentation has paused - some kind of technical issues. Seems the correct slides aren't coming up.

16:19
Oh, it was the sound. I wish they hadn't fixed it. There's some very loud beeps as they're navigating the menu. He's showing how you can edit your cars on your PC to use on the 360 (this is on Forza). Halo 2 PC will be enabled for Live Anywhere when launched next year ie. you can play across platforms.

16:22
They're now showing off the Media and entertainment section. Movies, TV Shows Movies and Clips. You can download in standard or high definition. "You can download and play in 10 mins. This is typically faster than going to your video store." This will be available next year in Australia.

16:24
Now talking about stats on downloads. "We've had 12,000 games submitted for approval for Xbox Live"

16:26
He's showing a sneak peak at Xbox Live games. It looks like just the E3 reel.

16:29
Talking about "evolving" the Xbox Live platform such as bring 1080p to the consoles. "We think it's important that our customers can play when and where they want." Here it comes... HD DVD Drive - availabale Early 2007. $249.95 rrp. Includes Peter Jackson's King Kong and Universal Remote Control. The system allows you to play standard DVDs in the drive and upscale them.

16:29
In December this year we're going to be making some announcements. We're going to be putting out a video that shows you more about Halo 3. "Very early" next year will be the multiplayer beta test. New maps for Halo 2 will be available early next year.

16:31
Now finishing up. "We'll be launching next week with Gears of War." There will be playable Gears of War on the show floor. He's now going to give away an Xbox 360 to the person who answers "What day do I need to check for a new game on Xbox Live?". Wednesday, of course.

16:33
Now over. I'm off to look at reconnecting the power.

The HD-DVD drive is the exact price a predicted icon_razz.gif Xbox 360 Premium + HD-DVD drive is now cheaper than the 60GB PS3, by like 5 cents or something.

Yeah it can, the spring update last month enabled it to do that.

Wow 12,000 games submitted for Xbox Live.

I'll wait I think until the the universe has settled on the HD-DVD vs. Blu Ray debate. Well I really don't give a toss who wins just win it already.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with the format wars, especially with the advent of the technology for a player to do both formats.

I wonder what they mean, specifically, about the editing of cars for Forza 2 on your PC? Will that entail making your own custom skins etc. or simply having access to the same level of customization that you will on the 360?

Tuning and painting the cars. Go play some Forza and check out how much you can do, apparently there is even more stuff to in Forza 2 icon_eek.gif

i wonder how much freedom Forza will allow.

if it's too much, i foresee hundreds of cars with vaginas and boobs all over them.

There's no reason why you couldn't do that in the original Forza. It's just that making designs that resemble anything real is quite complex and too time consuming for those sort of people to bother with.

Penis cars will be ramming arse cars all over the place and the gamer inside us all will die a little.

Isnt a ps3 core about same as xbox premium with HD-DVD player?

As far as I know, the premium is still going go $649.95, adding $249.95, that's $999.90. The 60GB PS3 is $999.95 no? However Microsoft are bundling the crap out of the 360 right now, so I'm sure you can get it for cheaper. I personally go on RRP, I mean I could say that the PS3 60GB costs $2500 USD because that's the average on eBay icon_lol.gif

Someone didn't pass grade six maths, did they? $250 + $650 = $900.

I thought David came off as the strongest speaker (apart from Vispi) and the Live Anywhere stuff was pretty cool, much more than just checking someone's gamerscore from your phone. I could see Joystiq furiously typing up the article as he spoke too, I was in the middle-front row next to them!

If you can edit cars for Forza 2 on your PC does that mean that programs like Photoshop and the like could be used? Or am I missing something here?

Either way Forza 2 talk is good talk at the moment. Damn I want that game.

Its something microsoft would definantly do, my point is a ps3 20gb rig is worth the price, compared to a xbox with HD-dvd drive. If only blu-ray was optional or import was an option..stupid sony. I really hate sony, but I dont see any substiutes for the games.
