Another console patch on the way

360 News | The Gears of War already need a tune-up.
The latest supergame (there's a new definition right there) for the Xbox 360, Gears of War, is already set to receive a patch to fix some issues which have sprung up following the game's release in the US. Console games receiving patches has become a hot topic, but the technological tweaking doesn't seem to be showing any signs of dissipating.

The lead programmer for Gears of War made this quick announcement, according to CVG - "A patch is in the works to address the connection issues as well as several other bugs that have been reported." Australian gamers haven't even gotten their hands on it, yet can already expect a few problems.

In any case, no official date for the patch has been announced, but thankfully Gears of War will be available for everyone to indulge their killing tooth in just a few short days. Expect PALGN's full review tomorrow!

Yo, hang on. What the hell. How can a console get a patch? You don't install the games so how can the data be updated?

For anyone who didn't buy the Core pack, the data is stored on the HDD and then accessed by the game - for anyone who did buy a Core pack (and hasn't got a HDD yet), I'd guess a memory card.

Its a damn shame this is happening you know.

Not everyone has broadband.

Still its the way of the future if you want to have a console you will need broadband.

Games have had bugs in them for ages, it's just that now developers can fix them after release.

Which is good, but can also be annoying. Im not in favour of console patches unless its something major.

They didnt fix 'em cause stop slow down of game's production. Beta testing is becoming more and more public. Reminds me of those Ipod nanos.
