Xbox 360 HD-DVD working on PCs

360 News | Unofficially of course.
The Xbox 360's HD DVD drive hasn't been released long, but the UNEASYSilence blog claims that it's got the USB external drive working on PC's, all with a few specific drivers, Windows XP and WinDVD 8.

Things aren't perfect however - according to the blog there'll be a few stuttering issues - but we're sure they're working on improving things now. The drive doesn't work on Macs because there is no player for the MacOS that supports HD DVD, although DVD's work flawlessly.

If you want to see images and the like, then we suggest you head over to the UNEASY Silence blog. Meanwhile, if you're wondering when the external drive will be released in Australia, it shouldn't be far off, although we definitely won't see it on our shores until at least 2007.

I could have sworn that I read this thing was supposed to work (officially) with PCs. Is that untrue? Or perhaps only with Vista?

That could have been from me, I assumed since the other USB 360 accessories worked on the PC this one would too icon_cool.gif

Spanca - I imagine that it would work just fine, if there were official drivers for it. I wonder if they will release vista only drivers, or any at all for that matter? Hrmm.
Here's hoping they don't do a Vista only thing - although I have no doubts that they'll go to any lengths to push the new OS.

From what I hear, its ment to be for xbox to help its sales, Vista idea would be pretty interesting since they could easily make money off the two or one.
