Xbox 360 TV and films will be coming to Oz

360 News | But there's still no date.
It looks like Microsoft will be bringing high-definition TV and films to markets other than the US, though a quote from Xbox Australia PR Manager Kerry Parkin suggests that it probably won't be happening this side of Christmas in Australia.

"These new developments once again firmly position Xbox 360 as the heart of home entertainment and gaming," blabbed Parkin to The Age's Screen Play blog. "We look forward to unveiling the plans for our Australian and New Zealand customers in the coming months."

So it's definitely coming, but your guess is as good as ours as to actually when it'll arrive down under. As you'd expect, we'll keep you posted.

This is great news. I'm guessing they'll announce something more concrete around the time of the PS3 launch.

I just downloaded my first TV show - 480p 180credits. It's pretty good - slightly better quality than a ripped 350Mb TV show, and the download went smoothly.

I think some people are going to enjoy this feature, but for me the licencing agreement means that I probably won't bother spending my money (the agreement says you are not allowed to view the show on anything other than the X360 console you downloaded it on to - this means I can't back it up off the console and the 20Gb HDD is a bit limitation).

^ What did you get, and did you buy it or rent it?

I bought the latest episode of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. The licence basically says I can have it on my X360 forever, I just can't put it anywhere else. icon_smile.gif

Sounds the same as the PS3 restrictions on downloading content to the PSP.. surly those restrictions are being imposed by the content providers rather than by Microsoft or Sony? iTunes allows you to copy your music to multiple PC's or iPods, so it seems strange that they wouldn't let you copy a TV show down to your PSP (or maybe your Zune in the future).

Pointless imo! Why don't people just watch T.V or buy the Dvd? Especially seeing as you need to store and view the content only from the 360 (seriously what a joke), with a 20gig hdd which is gonna be used for demos, game saves and bloody everything else the 360 can do I just don't see it being a good option for consumers. If they had let you copy the content onto another storage device....well then I would commend the idea.....maybe even use it.
