Eragon demo available on Xbox Live

360 News | No soup (or Eragon) for you if you're a silver subscriber.
The official demo for the videogame version of Eragon has been released on Xbox Live, the only catch being that you need to be an Xbox Live gold subscriber to actually access it. The demo clocks in at 415meg, which is surprisingly small given some of the recent demos.

The game is based on the film, which is based on the book. Eragon follows a man named Eragon who discovers he is a dragon rider, all you need to know is Eragon is mainly a hack and slash; although it's by the same team who did the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, so the series is in good hands.

Eragon will be available next month for the PC, PlayStation 2 PlayStation Portable, DS and the Gameboy Advance. An Xbox version will also be available for those who want to go plug it in again. If you want to read a little more on Eragon then why not have a read of our preview?

Oh... wow. I'm actually stunned by how bad this demo is.
'Comically atrocious' doesn't even begin to sum it up - the presentation, voice acting, dialogue, controls, balance... everything is off. If you ever played the LoTR Hack'n'slash games, or perhaps Demon Stone, then you have a pretty good idea what you're in for here. Except this is worse. Much worse.
Avoid it at all costs.

I feel really, thoroughly sorry for the poor QA team who had to work on this game.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to agree with the above. The demo was extremely short for starters (hence the small size) but that wasn't the only problem, the demo was just a mess. I think Karai's term of 'it was just off' is a perfect description. If the final product is anything like that then the game is one that needs to be avoided.
