Tony Hawk's Project 8 demo coming tomorrow

360 News | Sixaxis support confirmed too.
Activision has sent out a press release today which confirms that a demo for Tony Hawk's Project 8 will be available on October 21st. In the demo you'll hit the concrete park, where you can check out a 'nail the trick' objective. You'll also be able to try out 'Filmer' goals that require players to follow a cameraman and complete tricks that he calls out; along with 'Spot Challenges' which are challenges that you'll find throughout the park; you can complete these at your own leisure.

It's a busy day for Tony Hawk fans. Activision has also confirmed that the PlayStation 3 version of the game will also take advantage of the Sixaxis's motion control. You'll be able to balance and steer skaters through every rail grind, manual, revert, ollie and combo, as well as control slow motion to nail the trick moves.

The game will be out four months later than the Xbox 360 counterpart, but at least the PlayStation 3 version will include something different; just don't mention the online play. We'll have more information on Tony Hawk's Project 8 as soon as it becomes available.

This is the first Tony Hawk game to grab my interest since part 4....actually I really only got part 4 cuz I was extra bored....so in all honesty the first tony hawk game i've been interested in the development in since part 2.

The graphics look awesome and i'm glad it's on 360!

Also my download limit has been capped for the last couple of weeks but for some reason this doesn't affect me on Xbox Live! And yea it's always been like this....whenever it gets capped Xbox Live stuff still downloads and runs at maximum speeds. Awesome!

Yeah, this seems to be the case with me too man. It's awesome isn't it?
When I found out that I was capped I was so bummed about it, it was just bad timing as I had just gotten into the Test Drive demo and playing PGR 3 with friends and then bam, capped internets. Then I randomly joined my friends anyway and it was normal speed. Why is that do you reckon? That internet usage is capped yet Live isn't? (which is how I capped the thing in the first place...)

Not a bad demo. I like the feature where you click both sticks and it goes into slow motion.

Looks pretty damn good in High Definition too, although the character models are a little odd. They've got the same creepy unnatural looking faces that plagued Test Drive Unlimited.

Yeah agreed the slow-mo "stick it" moves are really cool and you can get real creative with 'em on combo lines.Wish it was on a button though. icon_sad.gif

Also what happened to the ragdolling? the bodies seem real stiff and fall unnaturally, and yes the faces are real creepy.

It seems like a regular Tony Hawks game to me. Nothing new really except the slow mo mode which is kind of gimicky, but graphically the game has seriously had a big overhaul and the animations are beautifull. I might actually end up getting this game.

I tried it last night and was quite impressed. Seems a bit harder than the Tony Hawk games are usually and a bit more like the old games which is a good thing, I always found the Underground games a little over the top. The last game was region free so fingers crossed this is too as I'll happily pay £22 for the Asian version on Play-asia. Everything Activsion has published on the 360 has been region free so far so i've ordered now as I know it'll probably be out of stock by the time I hear whether it's region free or not Now to pray it is...

The demo is brilliant. There are a lot of subtle changes to the game. All the animations are motion capped and completely redone, as well as a physics engine implemented - you won't magically accelerate uphill anymore without releasing the ollie button and actually oushing the skateboard this time.

All in all it feels like a much more realistic (though obviously not too realistic) and the nail the trick mode is a fantastic addition - one of these in your combo has almost the same effect as a special move.

A perfect summary of my thoughts on the demo, Cerebral. You're good for that you know? icon_wink.gif
