Xbox Live to be down for 24 hours

360 News | Next week, Tuesday.

Microsoft has plans to shutdown their Xbox Live and Xbox.com services for the whole day on Tuesday, October 17th.

Users will experience the downtime from 5pm AEST in Australia and 7am BST for Europe. The downtime is expected to last for "up to 24 hours."

The reason? This is what we know: It isn't a Dashboard update and it is apparently going to be for "Secret cool stuff," as Xbox.com richly puts it. "We'll tell you about [it] when we're back online October 18. Other stuff we'll be talking about later in the fall."

A: Yes it is. It is also 86,400 seconds. Too bad the Xbox Operations Center isn't on Jupiter. A day there is a little less than 10 hours!

Oh well, Im sure we can all survive without live for 1 day. Hopefully the "secret cool stuff" is actually good.

None of those from the above two posts are going to happen, they said no Dashboard update. So no hardware/software updates on our ends. My guess is it could be anything, from trueskills algorithm update to bring even more servers online to minimise the little lag there is on there.

I hope the next Dashboard update requires signed DVD-drive firmware to play games

Edit: Take it back, its up again now. Its just the site is still down, so thats why our gamercards arent working.
And the only extra content I can see is Lumines...

I can now get online but everything i pick on the marketplace ends up loading forever.

Hopefully they are gonna pummel the market with demos for GOW and Blue dragon and Halo 3 .........lmao!!

I wonder what the hell they are doing though, i wanna try out that lumines and i can't even get the bloody thing even though i can get onto the marketplace.

I'm having the same experience as Nismo. I can't login through a game, but when I run the connection test it says everything is fine and logs in. So I boot back into a game... then it can't connect.

What the hell did they do!? There is no more content or updates (apart from Lumines) and the dash is slow as. What the hell were they doign for 24+ hours?!?!?

^ Its just an excuse for them to maintenance. Im sure there getting a fair bit of $hit for lying about the extra content. But they are still working on live - so im giving them the benefit of the doubt right now, there might be more up tonight.
