Gears of War to be shipped with 10 multiplayer maps

360 News | Plus a demo to be available in less than 48 hours?

As we move closer to emergence day more information has been filtering through on Epic's upcoming Gears of War. On the official Epic forum, Cliff Blezsinski, the game's designer confirmed "we are shipping with 10 versus maps", which is sure to please those who were looking for a bit of variety in the multiplayer.

It seems Epic has been up to a bit of viral marketing as well lately. An email has been sent out to mailing list subscribers with a message coded which reads "Fenix has been located. You have 48 hours to mobilise."

The email links to a website which provides clues on the back story of Gears of War. It's certainly a bizarre website, although whether it means we'll get a demo in 48 hours or not is still not known. Either way something is bound to happen within 48 hours so when it does we'll report back.

Woah, a demo would be like the icing on the cake! I hope they release it asap on Au Live after initial release.

10 multiplayer maps should provide plenty of online goodness. Not long to go now..Must hold out.

Weird if a demo is coming out in 48 hours,especially after seeing the ign interview with the dude showcasing Gears of war stated that the demo would be released after the full launch.

Man I'd be happy as larry if it came out in 48hours...let it be so!!

I thought Cliffy B made a point of saying that there wouldn't be a demo released for GoW? At least, not before release.
But if a demo did come out I'd be all over it like white on rice.

I just watched the 8 minute in game video at IGN and its got me really excited about this game but I really want to try it out myself first to make sure its my type of gameplay. But heck I found Brute Force fun so this has got to be bloody entertaining.

Fingers crossed. I hope the game lives up to the Hype.

I like my Xbox 360 but this was one of those games that made me want to buy it.

I watched that website what made you think there was a demo comming out in 48 hours? or where was that refrence to 48 hours?

i doubt it would be a demo - only because its a christmas release and usually companies want to make it a certainty to get it out by then and not have any delays. Im sure they would be putting all their effort behind finishing the game.

^ Yeah got to agree with that. Also like Karai Pantsu pointed out, it was stated that a demo wouldnt come out untill after the games release. So probably not till December im guessing - that would also give enough time for people to chew over the demo before christmas.

Man its looking too awesome. I have a feeling this games going to be as good as Resident Evil 4! Plus multiplayer jeez.. Wish I had it now!

On the other side of the argument, a demo for Gears of War was fully playable at X06... they've already coded one.

That is a damn good point, come to think of it. Although wether or not they'd want to risk releasing a (possibly) buggy press demo to the masses is something else entirely.

Still, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Yeah there has actually been a few demos now but if there fully polished or not is another thing. The x06 version did look pretty nice though - honestly I would be happy with anything over nothing. Spose we will just have to wait and see!

Well, considering it's a game that isn't a direct port or a sequel, yeah, I think everybody is keen for something different. The appeal about this game for me is it's like a action/horror game. I really like the style and setting. Plus, I'm praying the mutli-player (4 vs 4) is really well done and heavily team based.

Please don't let it be a demo, I don't wanna ruin it by getting stuck in early, having it end and then having to wait for the full version again!

Demos for story based games don't really work well IMO as I always find something in the game that is gonna ruin it for me. Dead Rising was an exception to this because even though there is a main story in the game the focus seemed to be on killing zombies moreso.

Just be strong and don't download it. Was so hard for me not to get the Dead Rising demo...but I held on!
