BioShock walkthrough video

360 News | We promise it's not shocking.
BioShock is the work of Irrational Games, the folks behind System Shock 2. A first-person shooter, the game is set in a settlement known as Rapture, a utopian place where the top members of society (smartest, strongest etc.) can go to live in peace. The land is underwater and the smart members of society have discovered the secret of genetic manipulation. However, everything goes wrong and Rapture is turned into a dangerous place with scary mutants and a city that is in turmoil.

Anyway, 2K Games has kindly sent us a video walkthrough of the game. It's a hefty download - over 91MB, infact - but it gives a great idea of the atmosphere that will be in the game. The walkthrough can be found below (right-click to save), and we highly recommend you take the tour:

BioShock trailer [92.0MB 14min 15secs]

We'll have more information on BioShock shortly. If you've been hoping for a successor to System Shock 2, this is probably the closest you're going to get for a while.

If this is the 15minute walkthrough with Ken Levine, it does indeed look awesome.

They have a lot of good ideas implemented into the game. At least they're doing something different.

Watching that video obviously impresses me, but is also intimidating.

I like what I see. Big Daddies look great. Looks to be a quality title.

what are 'big daddies' and 'little sisters' i must have missed that report or something.. coz when i read about this game, i get totally lost when ever i hear it lol. DLing the walkthrough as we speak tho.

Is this the same one that was available on IGN about a week ago? Just don't want to have to download it again. The one on the Xbox Marketplace last night was awesome....it was all FMV but still....it's ranks as #3 on my most anticipated list..

Yeah it's the same as the IGN one. It was put together for X06, but IGN must have got it early.

Yea i've been waiting for some video on this one for ages (the underwater city of Rapture to me sounds like the perfect setting...the only thing that would make it better was if it was like ancient ruins with water dripping everywhere....but this is almost perfect)...anyways when the video came out I downloaded it straight away and not only was I not dissapointed....I actually came away more excited than ever before. I actually rely on review sites like gamespy and ign to point out the showstoppers for me....so when both sites came away from e3 going 'yeaaa....game of the show for sure"....I was convinced (also having played system shock 2 helped aswell).

Seriously that part where there is a flooded bathroom and a raging fire....that bit is absolutely amazing! I can safely say i've never seen a more immersive environment! I mean how awesome....an underwater utopian city that was supposed to be filled with art and literature has fallen by the wayside....I just love that contrast....from one extreme to another....not to mention the fact that the city is quite literally falling apart. It's supposed to be the nicest friendliest place you've ever been yet it turns out to be the most horrible/fear inducing. How awesome! Your senses are just bombarded with signs of dread and peril when you were here for the exact opposite. It's like going to the funpark and all the clowns turn out to be killer clowns and every ride is going haywire! It's like Poe or Lovecraft....very artistic yet very macabre. The story IMO seems like the best story in any game coming out (more so than Too Human....which would have the 2nd best setting out of all the games i'm anticipating). Imagine going into a room that is actually falling apart in realtime? Like you see new cracks developing and new water leaks appearing here and there. Imagine fighting a boss creature who is actually compromising the structural integrity of the building you're fighting in. Man the possibilities for this game are endless, not to mention the fact that it's heaps like Deus Ex (First Person RPG)...which allows for an insane amount of configurations for characters skills etc.

Man I can't wait for this game. I seriously think (know) that this will be the one game that will not dissapoint or fall short! Infact it should exceed nearly ever gamer's expectations and really show us what next-gen games should be all about.

The only other thing I can wish for is destructible environments (as I didn't see any signs of this in any of the videos).

Yea I know it sounds like my most anticipated game....but Resident Evil is that and Stranglehold is next because of it's destructible environments.

Yes, one of the real reasons for owning a next gen console is to get to play games like this one.

MS must really like to get an exclusivity (for whatever period of time exclusitivity means these days icon_wink.gif).

'big daddies' and 'little sisters'
I cant be bothered to download the walkthrough, so can someone explain...

"Litte Sisters" get "fuel material" called Adam from the dead bodies. They look like little evil dolls with a nasty looking knife.

"Big Daddies" protect them. They look like something walking around in an old fashioned under water deep diving suit but with a bloody big gun.

Your job I think is to get the Adam from the "Little Sisters" by any means (bribery, force, etc.). Oh and the "Big Daddies" don't like that at all.

Seems as if they have spent considerable effort in developing the story and universe (Rapture).

and 'adam' is like currency, which you use to 'buy' upgrades and other stuff like that. it can be used to get past some traps aswell
