X06: Xbox 360 exclusives announced

360 News | Splinter Cell 5 confirmed as Xbox 360-only, and Banjo-Kazooie returns.
At Microsoft's X06 event in Barcelona, the company revealed that the Xbox 360 will be the only next-gen console you'll find certain games on next year. Splinter Cell 5 will be exclusive to the Xbox 360, as will Bioshock.

The Redmond giant also confirmed that Rare is currently developing an update to the beloved Banjo-Kazooie franchise, which makes us feel all tingly inside. Microsoft has also confirmed that the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV will feature two new epic episodes of downloadable content, only months after the game is released. These will only be available in the Xbox 360 versions.

It seems Microsoft is signing deals left, right and centre to ensure the 360 doesn't suffer from a lapse once the Wii and PS3 launch. We'll have more news from the X06 event shortly.

A new Banjo would be very cool.

Remains also to be seen whether the non MS house products actually do stay exclusive. Or does exclusive mean 12 months?

But on the other hand being a Xbox 360 owner I think its great to get the game first.

It really depends on what they mean by 'exclusive'.....I remember Viewtiful Joe and Resident Evil 4 were exclusive to GCN but the Ps2 ended up getting superior versions (except for the graphics on re4). If it's actually what they say it is then that's huge news as Splinter Cell 5 and Bioshock are HUGE games! Also a new Banjo-Kazooie would be awesome...and as if that wouldn't be exclusive (seeing as microsoft own rare). Also I take it all this 'exclusivity' excludes the Pc platform.

What... No bioshock for PC.

Ah, good times. I remember when the original Splinter Cell was an Xbox exclusive.

Microsoft merely confirmed that the game will be exclusive only to their next-generation console. And, with the PC hardly being a console.. you know. I think it's just to shoot down those rumours that were flying around that Bioshock was also being released on the PS3.

Exclusives though? Doubtful. With today's development cost and so forth I'd imagine most third-party developers will be opting to go multi-platform for as many consoles as possible (to cover the costs). Capcom and Square Enix are prime examples of this. I'm sure we'll see exclusive content - like the GTA content - but I doubt there will be many exclusives outside 1st & 2nd party support, to tell you the truth.

So is there ANY chance that the new Banjo won't be Xbox 360 exclusive?
& are there any images of that circling the internet yet??

And it's definitely an exclusive as Microsoft own Rare.

^ Looks real nice to tell you the truth.

It's going to be interesting to see how well the game will actually turnout though. Considering that a lot of the original Rare staff members left to other companies (Free Radical for example) it's going to be a test of whether the company can retain the charm of the series - Perfect Dark Zero wasn't a reassuring factor of their skill in my opinion.

Nevertheless, there's a lot of upcoming and current games definitely worth purchasing for the Xbox360 and with this 'promise' to secure more exclusives and third party support, they've done a much better good than what they did with the original Xbox.

I am getting more and more tempted to buy a 360.

I actually think that Kameo was oozing with that 'Rare Charm' that I found in games like Banjoe Kazooie & Diddy Kong Racing.

Diddy Kong Racing! I loved that game so much!

On the other hand, Perfect Dark Zero broke my heart.

That's why I didn't mention Kameo, you see. icon_lol.gif

I thought the game was very enjoyable and it 'oozed' that Rare charm, if not a little lacking in features and content - such a short game. I was kinda dumbfounded by how incredibly average Perfect Dark Zero was though... eh.

I'd liken Kameo to Starfox Adventures. Beautiful to look at, and very fun to play, but it's over too soon and there's not a lot to come back for. Online co-op may offset this, but I havent tried it myself.

I love Banjo Kazooie, but it's not good enough to make me want a 360.Only Killer Instinct would make me buy a 360.

I don't care about Splinter Cell being exclusive to the 360 because I don't like Splinter Cell.

Its about time that extra content was avaliable for GTA games as by the time I learn the map, all of the missions are over.

If Banjo-Kazooie game on Xbox360 gets a good wrap... Then I'm buying one! I loved Banjo-Kazooie.

I LOVED banjo-kazooie, i was dissapointed with banjo-tooie but still had fun.........and then this.

With Rare's recent track record and banjo's newfound 'retard'(have a go at him) look, i don't hold much hope for it.

Bioshock is still coming to PC if I remember correctly.

I really hope Rare can keep the Banjo Kazooie series at its level of greatness (Tooie might have been worse than Kazooie, but its still a great game). If they can, it'll definately be that killer app that will get me to grab a 360 if I don't already have one.

Come on, Rare, make us proud.

Never played banjo kazooie, so I dont know. Splinter cell games are all the same to me, generic gameplay but I guess thats why some people love it, I dont

Banjo Kazooie took up a big part of my life. I played that game for so long.

You're right Jibbs, they do look a bit retarded, but how good was it to hear those classic sound effects again? I think my heart gave a flutter!

This is one title that if I end up disappointed with, Rare can lick my ass.

Yea it's a shame about Perfect Dark.

I'm looking foward to Banjo aswell....I just love those Rare adventure games....cuz they're almost straight ripoffs of Mario 64 (stuff like Banjo Kazooie, Conker & Kameo) and we all know that's the best 3d platformer ever made. I really have a lot of faith in Rare still as Conker's Bar Fur Day (xbox) and Kameo all gave me that feeling that Banjo did back on the 64.
