X06: Guitar Hero II coming to the Xbox 360

360 News | Worst kept secret ever.
RedOctane has officially confirmed today that Guitar Hero II is on its way to the Xbox 360 with a new guitar, as well as downloadable songs. The game is on show at the X06 event, which seems to indicate that it's pretty far on in development.

It's unknown at this stage whether the game will be similar to the PlayStation 2 version, or if the 360 version will contain extra songs or bonuses, but as soon as we know we'll report back. Feel free to head to the Media Panel and check out the screenshots.

That new guitar looks worse than the original, but looks like it's wireless?

Edit: Gah, downloadable songs too? But I already paid for a PS2 Guitar icon_cry.gif

Yeah, it does look worse. I don't see why you need the Dpad, really.

Looks in need of a paintjob, guess the d-pad is to navigate live to download songs.

Would be cool if it could generate notes to play from MP3s on your HDD (like Frets on Fire) but I doubt it.

Hmm have to decide wether to get this on 360 now for potential extra songs or stick with PS2 which would mean I'd have 2 guitars and a portable system (I have the slim PS2, easy to carry with singstar and eye toy for parties).

Considering I don't have a PS2...

Agrees.

Considering I don't have a XBOX360... well I'll just go buy one icon_biggrin.gif

To navigate your friends list/messages I'd expect.

The D-Pad's just there to meet Microsoft controller requirements I bet.

Guitar Hero and Live is a great pairing - this game was just made for microtransactions!

Microtransactions have a huuuge potential to be evil though! There's no restriction on what they charge for or how much they charge... Downloadable songs sound good but I'll see the price first.

Controller's just a mock up. I'm a little worried about the microtransation too.

Does anyone have an estimate on how much a song would cost?

I'd bet Cerebral's left leg that the game will be in about 5 song packs @ $8-10 US.
