Assassin's Creed coming to the Xbox 360

360 News | No longer an exclusive.

Ubisoft have just sent through a press release which confirms that Assassin's Creed is no longer a PlayStation 3 exclusive title and a Xbox 360 version will launch the same day as the PlayStation 3 version.

Assassin's Creed is an action adventure title set in 1191AD when the third crusade was tearing the holy land apart. Amongst secrecy the Assassins intend to stop the hostilities by stopping both sides of the conflict. Players will take control of Altair who has the power to change massive events in history.

Assassin's Creed made a massive splash at E3 2006 with many critics considering it one of the best reasons to purchase a PlayStation 3, it seems this is no longer necessary. Ubisoft have even included the first images of the game for the Xbox 360 and these can be found in our media panel.

One of the few PS3 games that was even remotely interesting to me! I guess that's a good thing as it means there's less of a reason to drop a grand on another new console.

Finally admiting it's coming to Xbox 360, wasn't this on Xbox 360 Dev Kits at E3?

I find it humorous that Sony heavily invested this in E3 this year as an exclusive and it turned around and bit them on the face. owned.

It was announced for PC and Xbox 360 earlier in the year. Ubisoft continually mentioned it was only a PS3 game to make the PS3 line-up look a bit more appealing during E3 - in my opion, at least. So much for PS3 having all these exclusives

It's the same with Dark Messiah, hopefully. I think they had it down as a PC and Xbox 360 release earlier in the year, too. So, hopefully we'll hear something about a 360 version of that game closer to its PC release.

Worse kept announcement in the industry recently, I don't think anyone expected that it wasn't coming to the 360.

Hopefully day one purchase for me.

I'm a high-def lover, so I want it for Blu Ray. It'll compliment my 360 + HD-DVD player nicely!

Plus, there are other games at launch I'm interested in, Resistance, Ridge Racer 7, Warhawk, Untold Legends and Lair.

They haven't announced it will be any different on each platform have they? It will probably look the same on everything, with the PC having more customisation naturally.

I think that was more saying that about the PS3 for Blu Ray only... and FFXIII to be played on the PS3.

Versions should be pretty much identical, it is Ubisoft after all.

Oh wells, at least I can save a few buck now I don't have to get a PS3 just for this, 2.5 grand computer FTW!

Oh hells yes, thats the confirmation I've been waiting for. Assasins Creed was pretty much the only game on the PS3 roster so far that made me want to get one - and now I don't have to have one to play it. Fan-bloody-tastic!

Now I only need to hope that the PS3 drops in price before games that I want come out for it =)
