"Retail price is set by our retail partners," said a Microsoft spokesperson to Eurogamer. "Retailers are already selling the Xbox 360 Core System from £199.99, which we believe is outstanding value to consumers." We'd have to agree it's pretty impressive, especially considering the PS3 will cost UK consumers (at the very least) £425 (AU$1,054), due to the budget version of Sony's console not being confirmed for release in Blighty.
Alas, the price of the Premium System has yet to budge, and, considering this writer's just coughed up £280 for his, things can stay that way for a while, thank you very much Microsoft.
