E3 2006: Halo 3 confirmed for Xbox 360

360 News | Scheduled for 2007 release. Now with the first screenshots.
A Halo 3 appearance at this year's E3 always felt pretty inevitable, though that's not to say the demo video of the Bungie title, shown off by Microsoft at the end of it's pre-E3 conference, was anything to be sniffed at.

Clocking in at just over two and a half minutes, it certainly managed to whet our appetite for more Master Chief goodness, and looked pretty beautiful to boot. Though completely lacking in gameplay footage, the screened demo did feature impressive particle and lighting effects, and also hinted at a game of some considerable scale. There were plenty of familiar sights as well: as well as Master Chief, Cortana made an appearance, the Covenant made an appearance, and that music made an appearance. You can view the first screenshots of the trailer in the media panel.

It was all rounded off by a single phrase: "This is the way the world ends. Finish the fight, 2007." Heck, we're looking forward to it already, Bungie.

"This is the way the world ends. Finish the fight, 2007."

Catchy. But, after all the hype which was created in 2004 with titles such as Fable and Halo 2. I'm sitting on the fence with this.

haha, so true icon_lol.gif

The trailers soundtrack is brilliant, and it's good hyper material. Other than that though, Heavenly Sword being played excites me that much more icon_smile.gif

The graphics look amazing....just wish there was some gameplay in there. I hope there are no brutes involved....they were sooo crap! I can't wait....this is top on my most anticipated list after the resident evils.

Over on the Bungie web site is four versions of the Halo 3 trailer available for download. Two are in the QuickTime format, the two other files are in the Windows Media Audio/Video format.
