E3 2006: New Gears of War screens

360 News | 360 gets some love in a sea of PS3 info.
We're sure to see more of it at Microsoft's pre-E3 even tomorrow, but in the meantime we've gotten our hands on two new screens of Epic's upcoming third-person shooter for Xbox 360 Gears of War. The screens depict what are possibly the most impressive (confirmed in-game) graphics we've seen so far, and many are predicting the title to win some 'game of show' type awards for this year's E3. Running on the Unreal Engine 3, Gears of War is set in (yet another) post apocalyptic earth, where Mankind is battling against the 'Locust Horde', which are basically aliens that come out of the ground. Tired settings aside, the gameplay may have something new - teamwork is said to play a big part in the game, and co-op will be available over Xbox Live.

Gears of War will be released late this year exclusively for the Xbox 360.
