Pre E3 2006: EA announces next-gen game

360 News | And it's an original title.
EA have sent through an announcement today that their first IP for next generation consoles will be Army of Two. This is the first title from the EA Montreal studio, which has been in development for the past year, is a co-op action game named Army of Two and will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3 sometime in 2007.

As the name suggests, the game centres around a two-man team. Army of Two "will throw gamers into hot spots ripped from current day headlines," says EA and will be forced to use two-man strategies and tactics with either an AI or live player. Apparently, EA have been wanting to make this game for a long time but until now, never felt that the hardware was sufficient to cater for the advanced AI. They really wanted to make sure that the game had a suitable co-operative AI partner.

"Army of Two is a first for EA in many ways. This is the first EA studio to be built entirely from the ground-up. This is EA's first original title for the next-gen systems," says EA Montreal general manager Alain Tascan, and "Army of Two is the first game to put players inside tactical warfare involving Private Military Corporations."

While there is no direct confirmation that there will be an E3 appearence, there is a good chance that we will find out more on Army of Two next week.

That army of two game sounds pretty cool.
"and will throw gamers into hot spots ripped from current day headlines"
WTF does that mean?
Here is a scenario:
You and your mate have been partying in Florida.
Suddenly there is a hurricane warning and the HUD displays your objectives.
You must fill 1,000,000 sandbags while stopping looters from ransacking houses.
Player 1 holds an empty sack while player 2 fills it with sand.If you spot a looter you can either shoot him but with limited ammo you have to conserve your bullets so you have to make a choice between team up combos or solo sack beatings.

Seriously though, they need more co-op games that work well.
And hopefully this will be the ticket.
