Oblivion sells a lot of copies

360 News | Fastest-selling 360 game yet.
Warm congratulations to Bethesda, who are now officially the makers of the fastest-selling Xbox 360 game EVAR! OK, admittedly it's not much of an achievement when you consider how long the 360 has been about, but 1.7 million copies shipped for both 360 and PC isn't to be sniffed at. Oblivion's publisher Take Two has not announced how many copies have actually been sold, but the shipped figure at least shows retailer confidence. What's more, according to the NPD group, the game is sitting pretty in the first and second place spots in the PC charts (the regular is first and and the collectors edition second, if you must know.)

All deserved as well, we'd say, for it's a fantastic title. Look out for our review in the coming days, folks.

It must have a great tie-in ratio with 360s sold. Are there any figures on worldwide sales/shipped so far?

Wow, people actually know what a GOOD game is these days?! icon_razz.gif
Congrats to Bethesda, well deserved I say icon_smile.gif

Yeah, I think it is fairly obvious now that people are buying the 360 purely for this game. Not just your everyday people either but the gamers out there who own Xboxs and were undecided on the 360 until Oblivion hit.

I mean, I haven't played Morrowind because I'm an idiot and even I was almost tempted to grab a 360 and Oblivion when it released...

At the Knox EB launch, I think the attach rate for Oblivion was around 50% not bad at all.

Everyone I know that bought a 360 (about 10 guys), bought a copy of Oblivion with it except for 1 guy....but he got like nearly every E.A game along with Tony Hawk and Gun....and he made the decision to buy one like 3-4 hours before launch....in other words....he's not really a hardcore gamer.

everyone i know with an X360, got Oblivion for PC.

strange that.

The 1.7 million is shipped, not sold. But it's still no doubt a huge hit.

Why? All the reviews I've read claim that the controls feel like it was designed for the controller.

Didn't see why you would get it for PC unless you had a Super Ninja PC. I guess the price tag for 360 is a little higher...

^ I don't know dude, I mean the newest cards, e.g 7900XT is like $699
As it's pretty cheap already as it does better then the 7800XTX & is about $300 cheaper too.

^ Well, the PC version has massive modability opportunities. That and if people don't want to buy an Xbox 360 and their PC is of resonable spec (2.5gHz+, 1gig RAM, X600+) they'll buy the PC version because they don't have to buy the console along with it.

That and the PC version is 80-90 bucks while the XB360 vers is 110-120

After playing a few hours of the Xbox version of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and feeling quite disgusted with the frame rate and loading times. It looks like Bethesda Software Inc. actually put some effort into this game, maybe.

Both cost exactly the same price, though the PC price will drop off quicker the the 360 version. Acording to rumors I've heard, there will be user created content hitting Xbox Live later this year. Perhaps the 360 version will be just as modable as the PC version.

I don't really care for the mods and my PC sucks. Although the only mods I know of so far is a topless skin icon_lol.gif

^ ORLY?

$60 for PC at my Harvey Norman, $88 for X360.

Depends on where you go. The RRP is meant to be the same isn't it?

My point was that Oblivion doesn't cost $110-120 like most of the other games.

I simply got the pc version cause i don't have a 360.That would be the main reason most would buy the pc version, OR, they have a 360 but they also have a computer that is specced better than a 360 and, obviously, chose the better of the two.

Lucky bastards.

The rumours are true, but you'll have to pay for the extra content, and I believe it will have to be officially endorsed. This is what I've heard, my news itslef may be a rumour, but Bethseda definately is selling extra content for the XB360 version.

HaHaHaa Ditto that... Never played Morrowind >Idiot< I agreee so much after getting my 360 at launch and that copy of Oblivion lol. Man that sh!t changes your life!!! I mean a game with a life of 300hrs+ and thats just playing it once icon_biggrin.gif The options are endless and the land near limitless.
With add ons I think this is going to be the Ultimate game ever made, Im still yet to see anything top it for its freeplay style with joyful gamer achievements every so often icon_biggrin.gif So contgrats Bethesda this rocks, cant say anything bad bout it. except I got a dud xbox 360 which MS replaced same day as it broke (at EB) and after that was fixed No fing wurries mate icon_biggrin.gif DOA4 is also worth a look for a button mashing fun fest and silky Graphs and sound.

all in all if Oblivion didnt exisist I have no idea WTF i would do with my lost hours. GO OUT AND BUY it icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif Kudos.

The add ons for Oblivion 360 v. are:

*few extra missions
*another building and operation of that building
*horse armour
^ones u gotta pay GPs for:^
*Game Freeze fixes
*Loading time improvements.
^free ones:^
and they will allegedly be available for the price of 150 gamer points
(you get 200 gamer points with 12months of gold)
so Im not sure how this system is going to work but it looks like a worthwhile investment in some terms. At least theyre supporting their players within the first month of game release which is more than I can say about trying to attain any aftermarket products for the 360
E.g. faceplates,cables etc.
The faceplate was a selling point of the 360 and MS have failed successfully at offering a Jap woodgrain FP which you cant even get in AU yet i mean "WTFs going on here?" Lik Sang already have alot on offer but im looking forward to MSs HDMI cable >30/4/06< and a DOA4 gamestick will be a must have as soon as I can get any news on one from EB as DOA4 incurrs a certain RSI factor and a stick would be major ease on the wrist. Anyway im off lookin for one............... do do do do. icon_biggrin.gif Kudos.

I don't even get much load time on the Game dude, 3 to 5 seconds on my comp is not really load time for me, I can't really see Xbox can pull off >1sec.

I've been playing it for about 12 hrs now, & haven't crashed yet, other then when I keep minimizing & maximizing it

That's a patch, not an 'add-on'... apparently the loading times on the 360 version are pretty bad compared to the PC version.

^ Load times don't bother me at all. The first loading takes a bit but after that it's fine and loads in the background.

This was from second hand accounts, I was told that the PC version loads faster and something about some XB360 players experiencing terrible load times. So yeah, might only happen to some.

Oops, major typo... but yeah, major diffs in load times would occur on PC too.
^ Yeah most likely that's because they don't def rag their computer or anything making it long for program to find it.
