RUMOUR: Microsoft to bolster its Japanese position?

360 News | With some big game announcements.
Microsoft is to hold a conference on April 6th, and a few sources, including Jeux France, are suggesting that there will be a few major game announcements for the Xbox 360. Along with the article, there is a picture attached that indicates the possible existence of a few incremental titles.

These include Sega titles Phantasy Star Universe, Virtua Fighter and Afterburner, while Namco seem to have a Tales of game in the making and Konami a 360 version of Winning Eleven (a.k.a Pro Evolution). The biggest positive with these titles for Microsoft is that a few of them may move a couple of Xbox 360 units in the stagnant Japanese region. However, the biggest potential shifter of X360 units comes from Square-Enix, a mystery title only known as "New Title" so far. The 360 is already getting Final Fantasy XI, so it remains unknown whether it will it be another Final Fantasy or something completely different.

Thankfully, April 6th is not far away and hopefully we'll learn more then.

Hmm... perhaps the 360 will get it's own "crystal chronicles" styled final fantasy series. I can't see square ever letting the "proper" final fantasies get away (FFXI is somewhat of an exception).

As much as I'd like to see the 360 fare better in Japan, I'm not sure this is going to improve matters.

The Xbox got Panzer Dragoon Orta, Jet Set Radio Future and Shenmue 2 pretty early in its life cycle, and it didn't make an iota of difference.

I wouldn't mind seeing the numbers for these refurbished Dreamcasts Sega have been selling over there. Cos I'm pretty sure they're probably outselling the 360 right now. icon_lol.gif

Was thinking....remake of one of the PS1 games...

Makes sense, M$ throws buckets of cash at Square-Enix and says make a remake of one of your classics for the 360. Would be a system mover. Espically if it was FFVII.

I'm really looking forward to Blue Planet on 360 from Capcom. That game looks like RE4ish gameplay with mechs.

That alone would be awesome.

I don't know about refurbished Dreamcasts, but I know the GameCube is outselling the 360 still. icon_lol.gif

EDIT: And YAAAAAY for next gen Pro Evo. I'd probably buy a 360 for that.

Blue Planet certainly sounds like a great concept.

Put it this way anything that MS does in Japan can't make it any worse.

i thought it was called Lost Planet or has there been a name change? I look foward to anything from Capcom. I think they and Nintendo have been making fun, innovative games since like forever.....all other companies have their moments but none (imo) are as consistent with quality releases.

I think you're right, it is Lost Plant. I just watched an Anime called 'Blue Gender'. Stuck in my head for some reason....

Ah, so the games from the Lindbergh are headed to 360. Nice! The only thing is they may be a little too arcadey and short, so maybe they should get budget releases, or make some exclusive features for the 360 versions.

Also good to see a new next gen Tales game. I think these might cause me to get a 360 soon =)

I'm a bit doubtful for VF5 to be on 360. I remember read it somewhere, the producer of VF5 said, VF5 needs to be 60fps. He also said anything less than that would affect the game play.

DoA4 is suppose to be the best 360 game so far, and the producer said the frame rate is 57fps... which is 3fps shot of 60. Anyway, we'll see what happen on the 6/4.

I will give you a medal if you can see the difference between 57 and 60 fps in motion.

Actually how powerful is lindbergh compared to 360? I'm pretty sure 360 is a fair bit more powerful so VF5 should run fine.

VF is a very frame rate orientated game, 3fps drop is 5% fps drop. The producer even said in his interview, a lower frame rate will change the way VF feels.

Normally I won't care about 30fps or 60fps, but I'm just a bit particular abt VF.... since I love the series too much.

Btw, please don't misunderstand me. I'm not bashing any system, I'm just voicing out my love for VF series here.

Don't misunderstand me either. I'm just saying I'll give you a medal if you can tell the difference between 57 and 60 fps in motion, which you can't.

Furthermore, simply because DOA4 does not hit 60 fps doesn't necessarily mean no other game will. You assume too much.

for the most part, i don't understand the need for high framerates. it's not as if the human eye can detect more than 30-35 fps anyway.

same with onscreen colours too. we can't distinguish between 16bit onscreen colour and 32bit onscreen colour, it's physiologically impossible, so why bother?
