Obsidian working on next gen RPG

360 News | Xbox 360, PS3 and PC gets the love, courtesy of SEGA.
SEGA, in collaboration with Black Isle offshoot, Obsidian Entertainment, have announced their plans to release a brand new RPG for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The original game has yet to be named or given a release date and when asked about its possible presence at the upcoming E3 trade show, a SEGA representative refused to comment. At least we know it exists right?

Obsidian are well known for their fantastic work on the sequel to the critically praised and much loved Bioware RPG Knights of the Old Republic. Currently hard at work on yet another sequel to a Bioware game, Neverwinter Nights 2, one would expect the majority of Obsidian's man power directed at completing this long awaited title. In light of this, it might be some time before some more concrete information regarding SEGA's mystery RPG comes to the fore.

Simon Jeffery, President and COO of SEGA of America said that "The development team at Obsidian has 'proven track record' stamped all over it. When SEGA decided to create a fresh and captivating RPG franchise for new generations of hardware, we immediately knew who we wanted to work with."

"We are excited to be working with a great publisher like SEGA as they are willing and excited to launch new and visionary IP on next generation consoles," stated a (possibly teary eyed) Feargus Urquhart, CEO of Obsidian Entertainment in reply to Jeffery's generous comments. "At Obsidian, our focus is to make exceptional games and we see SEGA as a true partner in achieving that goal for our next epic RPG."

We'll keep you posted with more info as it breaks.
