New Xbox 360 flight sim announced

360 News | The ridiculously named Over G Fighters.
Flight simulators are a rare breed on consoles. Generally, they're at home on the PC, where dedicated joysticks can control aircrafts with precision. However, every now and then, one slips through the cracks to land on a home console. Today, French publisher Ubisoft announced one such game. Over G Fighters, developed by Taito, is a flight sim soon to be coming to the Xbox 360.

As is usually the way, a terrorist organisation is threatening the world - and it's up to the united world air force to stop them, fighting it out in the skies over most different continents. Players will be able to fly up to thirty different jet fighters, including the F-22A Raptor, the F-15E Strike Eagle, and other various combinations of letters and numbers that don't mean a whole lot to this particular writer.

There should be no shortage of things to do either, with a reported eighty-plus missions to conquer. All missions can be recorded too, to admire those spectacular dogfights. Xbox Live support for up to eight players will also be incorporated into the game.

With the power of the Xbox 360 at their disposal, Taito could pull off something special here. The rather nice first screenshots of the game are available over to your right in the media panel. The game is currently set for a June release.

Looks interesting, the Xbox controller would be pretty good for a HOTAS set up... We'll see when it comes out, though... flying a Lightning II would be pretty cool icon_biggrin.gif
