Xbox 360 titles in Australian stores now

360 News | To think we could have had the console instead.
A few publishers have mentioned today that their Xbox 360 titles have shipped to Australian stores and are available for purchase now. Activision has released both Call of Duty 2 and Quake IV to retail stores, each of these titles retail for $109.95 (they're around half that price on the PC, but let's keep that quiet).

Those with a decent memory will remember that the 2nd of March is the date that the Xbox 360 was originally set to release, before a delay set the console back until the 23rd of March. Microsoft's first party titles (Kameo, Project Gotham Racing 3 and Perfect Dark Zero) will also be in stores within twenty four hours.

Most of EA's titles have shipped as well, and they retail for a premium price of $119.95. Cough, splutter. The rest of the Xbox 360 hardware accessories will be available in the next week.

Hey, macca !!!

Cmon, man. Console/Pc gaming in its infancy 10 years ago? Give us a break dude!!. Im not trying to be rude by no means, you might be several years younger than myself.

It doesnt take a genius to figure out what console was out at that time!!
And anyone remember the prices for those CDs??

And, before that, there was the SNES-Megadrive - which most new folks would probably only know via emulation - and before that, there was the Sega Master System and Nintendo NES, and before that the old Atari 7800, before that the Atari 2600. And thats just the consoles. Dont forget the old c64, Atari ST, and Amiga 500. Yes dudes, they were technically PCs !!
And as far as PC gaming ( as you know it ie Intel Based ), geeze I can only really remember back to around 1986. Before and during, I was playing games on the Apple ][. And dont freak out so much over the prices of the new games. But watch out for those supposed Blu-Ray based games. If any one cares, I remember paying around $80 bucks for Golden Axe and also Lemmings (EACH) for when they first came out for the SMS. And dont even talk about the prices Nintendo used to have for their NES !!!! Does ANYONE AT ALL CONCUR ??!?!?!?!?
ALSO TO ANYONE --- stop dissing the new consoles as being the "PC in disguise". I think with the exceptions of the older Atari Systems and some, it has always been the case - NES used, I believe, a 6502 mp. The SMS used a z80. The Megadrive was a 68000 Motorolla. And did you know also that Nintendo actually worked on the SMS hardware and compared it With original Zilog Z80 hardware to make the first GameBoy. They essentially had the same processors!!! Instead of being PCs as such, they were all pretty much trimmed down PCs.
Lets all just be wise with our gaming dollars, and just look forward to the "next gen" of gaming immersion.
Take care you all!!,
Daniel.

Between 1992 and 1995, $120-170 for Megadrive and SNES games was common place. The bigger the cart, the higher the price. It only began to settle down when interest in those consoles began to wane, and the PSX hit. Some early N64 titles breached the $100 barrier to, as did some later ones. We've all been a bit spoiled by cheaper software in the last 10 years, but having paid these prices in the past doesn't really make a return to paying those amounts easier to swallow.

Exactly right. Its been done before, but do we really have to do it again? All I'm saying is that personally, i'll be able to buy less games than before..

All I can say is thank **** I don't want a 360.

I have my $90+ is a rip off mark and for that it must be good. And sure we get the "it costs more to make games these days." Of course it does, yet we still see some games come out at $50 are they making money? "yes." Alright it's not as much and the cost of production is less, but still the newest Smackdown game definetly had a high production cost and it was $80 or less. I believe its these high prices that turn people to piracy, or not buy the system at all.

But in the end of the day I was never interested in the 360 and these prices have guaranteed that it will stay that way.
