Xbox 360 games priced?

360 News | Premium prices for premium games?

Whilst the Xbox 360 is still a few months away, publishers need to notify retail shops months in advance so that they can prepare for the launch and we've been hearing some very strong rumours recently about the price and release dates for some of the big Xbox 360 titles.

It is up to the individual publisher to decide what their titles will retail for, and Microsoft have stated their titles will retail for $99.95, whereas some companies like EA are charging up to $119.95.

These prices and release dates are subject to change;

This is the kind of news that makes The Hulk want to smash stuff.

I really, really hope Microsoft don't get away with this. Send them a message that this shit won't fly by not buying the games at this price! Try people, try. I certainly will.

If we do shell out the cash, it'll send them the wrong message and come next next generation, expect to be spending $150 on the next Metal Gear or Halo. And nobody wants that.

There's very few games I'd be willing to shell out $99 for let alone $120 in this day and age. Nothing on the 360 is worth the price they're asking for, IMHO.

Well, its not Microsoft that you should be bitching about, its the third parties that are releasing their games above the $100 mark.

Personally, I believe that this will only affect the initial batch of games and it won't be long until the prices start hovering around the $100 mark.

I mean, parents bitch about how $50 is too much to pay for a game so the chances of them buying a game above $100 is extremely low. Sure they aren't really the demographic that Microsoft are targeting but parents do make up a large number of games (and systems) sold.

i read the list and was surprised to see that Perfect Dark was a cheap $100...hang on a minute - i think its cheap because of the other overpriced games already on there, making it look like nothing. nice trick Microsoft.

We are already ridiculously overpriced games compared to US. I don't care about shipping, that doesnt equate to the extra 50 bucks or whatever it is. I'd rather import 6 games at a time from US for the savings, but I can't because of the NTSC shit. Who invented this absolute crap? Why can't we have a universal system.

It's weird Ubisoft would think their titles are worth $119.95 when they've recently been releasing budget titles for the PSP. It's very contradictory.

Infinite Gameply stands to win from this, who's going to buy many games with the console and games already so pricey? Renting might be the only affordable way to play more than a couple of 360 games.

Launch price amnesia strikes again.

A fair whack of PS2 games where $110 - $120 at launch.

Of course, nobody bought them.

Companies got the sign, prices were lowered - hopefully the same happens to these developers.

They're just trying old tricks again...it may work with a small portion of buyer who need everything the second it comes out...but it won't work for long.

EA have really become a bullshit company and an overall joke these days.
Ea are the ones really pushing for the $120 mark because they're assuming that their games are that good that peopel will buy them at that price. The main reason other companies are following suit is because they think that if EA can pull it off so can we.
ATM EA are looking for practically anything to make money, the new Battlefield 2 patch (1.2) will come in two different packages, a hotfix one which will fix gameplay and another one which will be $20 which will be a hoxfix as well as utilization of graphics and so on. (mind you this is all still rumor)

Besides, if you can get it on PC for $80 then that's better than gettign ti for $120 on the 360, not to mention the backwards compatibility of the 360 and the Xbox still producing games which are similar (Most Wanted anyone)?

All in all: EA are really screwing people out of thier money.

I'm really glad I bought the VIP pack now. The only two other games that are remotely interesting to me are PGR3 and Oblivion. With these prices, I won't be buying these games untill a price drop, I recently got Forza and Jade Empire and both of these are b/c so I won't get bored

All part of launching into a new generation. The same applied for the transition from PS1 to PS2. Sony (and it's third parties) had to ease in these new games by still having their PS1 games at the usual retail price, while marking-up their new software so they could make a significant profit rather than reducing all their software.

Most companies tend to do when they're the first next-generation console, and I'd imagine by the time the Revolution and PS3 comes by Microsoft would've reduced their software back to $79-$89. All the benefits of launching first I suppose.

There are a lot of people that need to be bitch-slapped over this. The answer is simple, spread the word and tell people NOT to buy the games at these prices and hopefully someone (in the right place) will get the msg.

Give it three months, normal service should resume then. If not, it's import time!

Personally I'll be holdign onto my good Xbox games to play on the 360, I've even re-newed my XBL for when I get the Xbox 360!

Tony Hawk for 120 bucks? I can buy it right now for 50 bucks brand new... I really don't think they thought this through.
