Australian 360 Call of Duty 2 release date announced

360 News | It seems like you'll be able to get everything 360 before March 2nd, except the console.
Call of Duty 2 has received wide acclaim in the United States, and Activison have announced today that the game will be available to purchase in Australian stores on February 3rd, a whole month ahead of the launch of the actual console. BECAUSE IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE TO DO IT!

We've also heard reports that gamers have been able to pick up the VIP premiere pack as well, so it seems that there will be no problems getting ahold of Xbox 360 software - although the hardware may be another issue.

As this is only the first announcement, we're sure that other companies will follow suit with more launch announcements in January; we'll report the dates as we know them, so stay tuned.

So much sense indeed.

Oh well, on the bright side at least people won't have to fork out 1000 bucks on launch day.

It's a good marketing idea. People will see the box in the store and think 'gee this is going to be the next-gen stuff' and buy the game (or games if other companies follow suit). It'll also help Activision get an idea of how many stock should be produced on launch.

Thanks for the list, Aussie. I think I'll be even more wary about what I buy for the 360 with those prices, but I honestly can't see them keeping this up long - premium pricing was attempted with the PS2 (half the launch titles were $109.95) but was quickly withdrawn. While I don't doubt that they'll try to keep the prices up at $119.95 as long as they can, I reckon the 109.95 price point will probably be the more common one.

Frame City Killer has been delayed to "Spring" - and from the looks of the latest (totally laughable) screenshots, it should probably be Spring 2007 icon_razz.gif

I was going to buy this console on launch until I read these prices.

**** you, Microsoft. Suck crap for the bad 'worldwide' launch. Suck crap for deciding on not launching in Australia and missing out on it big time.

This is unreal. We are already overpriced games a million times compared to the Yanks and now this crap? How dare they tell us that the new generation games are premium and deserve that price. Well you just lost yourselves 1 customer, I'm sick of your crap.

Settle - remember, these are RRP, and probably won't last for long - if they even fly to begin with.

For example, DVDcrave.com.au have PGR3 for $87. The only way you'll pay those prices is if you buy from EB on launch day or something. They also have most game prices at either $87 or $96, with the exception of some crap stuff.

They also have the console inexplicably $15 above RRP too - but that's why you only get games from there.

Still, trying to pull that in the first place is disgusting, and I hope nobody supports the policy by actually paying it.

That remids me of that simpsons episode (flaming homer/moe) where homer says to moe over and over that he just lost himself a customer but moe can't hear him over the sound of his cash register ringing in the thousands of dollars from his 100's of other customers.Ah....read between the lines.

But yeah no denying it, that is absurd.I can fully understand games like....steel battalion(??? the one that came with the big ass controller) being so dear but this is ridiculous. It IS just a port after all.
