Kameo: Elements of Power Screenshots

360 News | The Xbox 360’s Killer app?
Rare have today released the following images from their upcoming action-adventure game for the Xbox 360, Kameo: Elements of Power.

After its rocky development phase, (after being cancelled for the Gamecube, and more recently the Xbox), Kameo: Elements of Power is ready to roll. Gamers will journey through an exciting fantasy world where leading female character, Kameo, can transform into monsters and use their special abilities. The captivating title features a multiplayer co-op play, which allows gamers online and offline to work together.

While it doesn’t scream out with similar flair as to what the other Xbox 360 launch titles have, Kameo: Elements of Power will be one of the few in it’s genre that will cap off an exciting start to the Xbox 360’s debut.

When you said, "After its rocky develoment phrase" did you mean to say "phrase" or "phase"?
Just wondering...

I'm interested by this game - if it's anything like the old N64 Rare games in terms of cool gameplay, then it ought to do the Xbox360 quite a bit of good.

Sorry. I didn't have time to look over it, and therefore missed it.

I think this is one of the few Xbox 360 launch titles that will offer something really unique to the line-up. Most of the other titles are very similar, but having a title that's a little 'fresh' and 'different' is certainly appealing. Reminds me of Star Fox Adventures to tell you the truth, which was a game that I loved and is a game I still think is one of the best looking titles for the GameCube, which is something similar with Kameo (one of the best looking titles shown for the Xbox 360)

Personally, I think this game looks a lot better than PD0

Agreed - the game looks pretty good, and it offers something different from the other Xbox360 offerings.
If Rare manage to punch out a bundle of new adventure and platform games for the Xbox360, then it might tweak my interest (provided that they manage to regain that level of quality that they had back in the day).

I want this game. I'll probably get a 360 just for this game. All the other games on the line up and the horizon don't interest me at this moment, but Kameo has caught my eye many times. And of course screens like that are enough to keep me hungry.

As for PD0, I get the distinct feeling that it's being rushed onto the launch line up. Recent footage I've seen doesn't really impress me. Sure it looks fantastic, but the AI was incredibly stupid. In a shooter, dumb enemies really stick out and being so close to the release date, I wonder at how Rare can polish this problem. I really hope for the sake of the game that it isn't being rushed and that the demo that was shown wasn't any where near indicative of the final product.

Edit: Okay, so it seems that the footage I saw was from the final product... crap. I hope it isn't as bad I thought.

New consoles are always exciting and even more so if you can get one on day one. Even better if there is a game that strikes your fancy and I think Kameo may just do it for me.

Rare's last outing on the Gamecube was a good one (Starfox - Dinosaur Planet). Really a gem of a game.

Besides Zelda Twilight Princess Kameo to me is the only other viable alternative in that genre (possibly Shadow of the Colossus).

Quake IV, Mass Effect and Gears of War are the other Xbox 360 biggies!

Regarding Kameo, well I have always been interested in it ever since I can remember it being announced. It looked fantastic back then (visually) and now it looks even better so really all I can say is bring it on. It will be really nice to see Rare return to their 'normal' status again, providing they pull this off of course.

On a side note, what is with IGNorant? In their preview or whatever they said that Kameo was originally a Nintendo 64 game. That is not true, is it? I don't recall it being for the N64 ever...

It may of been at one point Nismo, I recall seeing a screenshot or two.

Who remembers the original Dinosaur Planent 64 before Star Fox was added? Memories.... icon_smile.gif

Seriously, I don't recall seeing Kameo and N64 together. Ever. As far as I knew, Dinosaur Planet was the last Rare game to be announced for the console and that was announced long before Kameo was...

Yeah, I'm not too sure but I remember seeing pics in the N64 Magazine I used to collect, it might've been for the GameCube though.

Still the graphics seem pretty fine.

Shows the quality of music we'll be hearing from the Xbox 360.

And yes, Kameo was originally announced for the GameCube (announced very early in the console's life-cycle). The thing that I found interesting is that Rare recently mentioned in an interview that both of these games have had only a little over a year for development, since Microsoft asked Rare to halt the release of the games (Kameo and PD0) for release for the Xbox 360. Just goes to show how much has gone into the development of both titles from GameCube to Xbox to Xbox 360.
