Microsoft unveils Xbox Live 360 prices

360 News | Final confirmation of what we more or less knew.
Almost one week after a French website supposedly leaked the details and pricing of Microsoft's Xbox 360 Live service, Microsoft themselves have officially confirmed what we'll be charged for the various Live subscription packs that'll be made available. It's long been known that Xbox 360 Live packages will come in one of two forms: 'Gold' and 'Silver', and there'll also be an even pricier subscription pack available, known as (cue music from 2001: A Space Odyssey) the Xbox Live Premium Gold Packs. Very nice.

Xbox Live Silver users will be able to make use of voice and text messaging, download demos and trailers and access the Xbox Live Marketplace. Xbox Live Gold players will be able to do all this, whilst also being able to play online games and use the matchmaking functions of the Live service, all whilst feeling rather superior to Silver subscribers, we'd imagine. And Xbox Live Premium Gold users will be able to do ALL of the above, whilst also enjoying the pleasures of an Xbox Live headset and access to an Xbox Live Arcade game (Joust for three-month subscribers, and Bankshot Billiards for twelve-month subscribers, since you asked). Mind you, superiority comes at a price:
    Xbox Live Gold
  • 1 month subscription: US$7.99 (£4.50 / €6.50 / AU$10.50)
  • 3 month subscription: US$19.99 (£11 / €16 / AU$26)
  • 12 month subscription: US$49.99 (£28 / €40 / AU$65)
    Xbox Live Premium Gold
  • 3 month subscription: US$39.99 (£22 / €32 / AU$52)
  • 12 month subscription: US$69.99 (£39 / €56 / AU$91)
We're still waiting on European and Australian pricing, but for now we're going to stick our necks out and say that we'll probably be paying very similar prices to those paid by our American cousins.

Ah, yea, could well be now you mention it. Would make sense as the Gold prices are cheap as chips.

I know it isn't the official price for our shores but $91 isn't too bad for the most 'superior' online package. I know that is the one I will be going for next year. icon_smile.gif

Yeah... those converted prices are anywhere near as daunting as I thought they would be. Hopefully they'll carry over as official prices. If so, it just might be worth going live.
