Xbox 360 Tidbits

360 News | How much will a 360 be?
Recently, Microsoft's J. Allard was interviewed by TheStreet.com. In this interview Allard revealed some new information regarding the Xbox 360, including the potential price range.

- The Xbox 360 will be priced "in the neighborhood" of $500 AU. The final price will be decided in about 2 months from now.

- Contrary to Bill Gates's statement that Sony and the PlayStation 3 will walk right into Halo 3 when they launch, Allard said that Halo will be released "when it's ready."

- The chips for the Xbox 360 are in production right now, but the actual consoles aren't being made yet.

- Clarifying his "1 billion" statement from E3; he said that was more like an inspirational comment for the video game industry as a whole. 1 billion gamers is a goal for the industry (not 1 billion Xbox 360 gamers).

The Xbox 360 is currently scheduled to be released sometime in November, in time for the holiday season, in North America, Europe, and Japan.

$500 is actually pretty reasonable. Especially considering the Xbox's original launch price (before the price went down around the GCN's release). If it is indeed that cheap (for a launch price I mean) then I will definitely be getting one at launch. icon_smile.gif

AU$500!! icon_eek.gif That would make it apprx $380 american dollars. It's been rumoured to be round $350 at US launch, so sounds bout right. It also sounds too good to be true, but let's hope it is true. I can't imagine paying less for a next gen at launch, but then, I could also imagine paying a bit extra, like for GST and whatnot.

Sounds fair to me. If it was more than $450-500 then I would consider whether I would actually get it at launch. If it was $450 I would definitely get it, $500 I'd have a think about it probably leaning towards yes but with fewer games.
