Pre E3 2005: Bill Gates Confirms Halo 3

360 News | A launch title for the Xbox 360? Find out inside.
In the upcoming issue of Time Magazine, Bill Gates mentions some juicy details on the ‘expected’ Xbox 360 launch title, Halo 3. This is what Gates had to say about the issue:

"Note to the hardcore faithful: the next version of Halo will not, repeat not, be ready in time for the launch of Xbox 360. It will be part of the all-important second wave next spring. It's perfect," Gates stated. "The day Sony launches [the new PlayStation], and they walk right into Halo 3."

While Microsoft in the past has denied all reports of there being a third member in the Halo franchise, Gates’s comments appear to confirm what we’ve all been expecting – that the third Halo title is indeed in the works for the Xbox 360. It is also interesting to hear Microsoft’s strategy to ‘out-stage’ the Playstation 3.

PALGN will update you with all relevant Xbox 360 and, hopefully, Halo 3 information directly from the E3 expo this week.

Halo 2 didn't have an ending, so it's obvious that Halo 3 was going to be made, eventually.

I've never played a Halo game, so I know not of it's highly praised features and gameplay.

This in mind, is Gates suggesting the Halo 3 would steal sales away from Sony at the launch of its PS3 system?

Wow...
Must be good games.

^ personally i thought the original Halo was very average in terms of features... nothing that hadn't really been seen on PC before, BUT it was certainly a good console FPS game compared to what else is available (which isn't really saying a lot, but it was good)

i haven't really played H2 enough to see how much better it is apart from the visuals, but it certainly sold well enough that it is likely to be a reason people will buy an XBox 360... good game or not...

(a good parallel might be Star Wars: Episode 1... many people didn't like it, yet it grossed really well... it was also joked that it could have been 2 hours of George Lucas walking around his home in a bathrobe and it still would have sold millions upon millions of tickets...)

About time, someone who agrees! While the original Halo is fantastic, it isn't a game that stands out among previous FPS. The controls were awkward in my opinion, features were lacking and there were other issues. Still a fantastic console FPS, but it's definitely far too overrated in my opinion.

^everyone agrees with that dude!

I reckon 2 hours of watching George Lucas in a bathrobe would make a better film.

Halo was nothing special, but I still enjoyed it, regardless of flaws. Hope part 3 remains as enjoyable.

i wasn't saying it wasn't fun, but (IMO) it wasn't as great as it was cracked up to be in terms of all FPS games...

like i said, if you remove PCs from the equation, it was an excellant FPS...

and yeah there were many fine moments... i thought it was great when the focus shifted from the alien things (forget their name) to the flood... i love panic fps games like that (where you shoot everything that moves...)
