Pre E3 2005: First Perfect Dark Zero screens

360 News | First in-game screenshots of Perfect Dark Zero, one of the Xbox 360's launch titles.
After being scheduled for roughly five dozen different consoles, Perfect Dark: Zero has been unveiled as an Xbox 360 launch game - in fact, if the MTV event was anything to go by, it is THE launch game.

On the show, it was claimed that PD0 will feature Xbox Live multiplayer deathmatches supporting 50+ players. Whether this will happen without slowing to a frame rate of three is questionable.

Check the media panel out for the first screenshots.

Why are a few of these images screaming "Halo" and "current-generation" at me?

Bizarre, isn't it, especially given the incredibly long time Rare have been developing this game.
This would seem to suggest that Rare were in fact originally planning to develop Perfect Dark Zero for the Xbox, and it's probably been ported to Xbox 360... they're probably trying their best to optimise it for the system at the minute. I imagine it'll be fully fixed up by launch.
Quite surprising though. I assumed it was Microsoft's strategy to tell Rare to develop PD0 for a more powerful system, planning for a powerful Perfect Dark launch title from the start... but apparently not. icon_kero.gif

So, then if M$ is launching the XB360 at the end of the year, ending the current XB's life in the process... what happens to Conker L&R?
Is this going to be ported to the XB360 as well?

I guess they'll unveil it at E3, huh?

Conker's still coming. The only xbox game that was cancelled by Rare was Kameo.
And like I've been saying, Rare has lost their edge. They can't even produce quality graphics for their games any more.

Poor Rare...
Ah well, better for Nintendo to have lost them then!

Resident Evil 4, splinter cell chaos theory (XB) and Doom 3 (PC) and riddick (PC) all look way better then this. Espescially RE4

Why bother releasing screenshots that don't even look impressive now?

I doubt that's the problem. Kameo has had a longer development time and it looks ten times better than PD0, and that's been shifted from Gamecube to Xbox and only recently to Xbox 360.

Then I'm baffled icon_lol.gif
Why does it look so poor? icon_neutral.gif

Perhaps they're lying to us so they'll have something to surprise us with at E3. They've used basically everything else up icon_razz.gif

The first screen looks nice, but it isn't anything the Xbox (or the PS2 and GCN for that matter) can't do. The others just look horrible. Bad textures, near nonexistant lighting effects, I sincerely hope they have the xbox game running on an Xbox 360 platform and this is in no way indicative of the final game.

This is Rare, dammit. This doesn't make sense.

This next gen isnt a big jump. The consoles just have more power behind them. Most of the games are going to look around the same graphics as this gen. I wasnt surprised.

Who cares that much about the graphics - I mean if it's anything like the 64 version - PD0 will be awesome. And i know you guys aren't saying it's going to be a bad game, I know you're just saying it isn't great graphics, which is very true. But, I doubt it will be as good as the 64 title as Rare now suck.

Kameo, that game is going the way of Duke Nukem: Forever. It will take forever to come out!
