looks shite. i HATE the disrespecting of a popular series. if the 1st game was released with lackluster sales and reviews than i could understand a reinvention of the character. but this is an established series with an anime series and a specific and detailed backstory. if this guy had better not be dante, (call him azazel or some other name and make him dantes long lost cousin or something) because if it is dante i only have one thing to say.................... STOP F$%^&# WITH SERIES U F$%^&#$!!!!. have u ever seen akira kurasawas 7 samurai ? how about hollywoods the magnificent seven? have u seen ju-on 1&2? bet u have seen hollywoods grudge 1&2 or its try hard attempt at making its own grudge 3? is my point getting across? IF U WANT TO MAKE SOMETHING NEW HAVE THE STONES TO CREATE IT YOURSELF AND STOP STEALING THE GOOD NAME OF SOMEONE ELSE!!!!!!!!!..sorry im better now i have that off my chest.

Its a re-imagining dude, calm the hell down. Capcom wanted them to create a different Dante. Apparently it took multiple tries for Capcom to approve the new design because it was too similar to the original Dante. And the character design is perfectly fine (I love British punk fashion though) and I'm sick of hearing people whine because he got a hair cut.

Do you have any problem with the game except for that you love the 1st and 3rd Devil May Cry (everyone hates 2 lol)?

I personally dislike reboots and re-imaginings, everyone seems to be doing this these days and I'm getting sick of it.

If developers want to try something new then make a new IP so that new ideas are appreciated in proper context, because otherwise you will always have comparison to what the franchise originally was and as good as a reboot maybe, it usually ends up being too different from what was established.

A franchise should be appreciated for what it is, when someone comes along and says that the reboot is better than the original ever was, and that the reboot is what the franchise should have been, then that is absolutely hypocritical. If you never appreciated the franchise when it was consistent with the vision of the creator and initial concept then you never were a fan to begin with.

Some of these reboots were done well, I admit, but to me will never, ever replace the original concept. So while Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 were a brilliant 'reboots' of sorts (not entirely) , to me it's far too different from what Resident Evil truly was, and so Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica to me, will always be the best pure Resident Evil games.

i understand your viewpoint jesuslol. and truth be told im not the worlds top fan of dmc, though i really enjoyed playing them. my question i ask is this. why not make another dmc game with the main character like this new one and have him as someone else in the dmc universe? or make this a completely different universe like bayonetta? they could you know, easily. so why call it devil may cry?.why not call it demon slayer or punk devil killer? and start a new series?...........have u answered it yet? hows about i give a hint....WHICH ONE WOULD SELL BETTER? and why? ...........................the one that would sell more is'Devil may cry' why? because of its good reputation for delivering a consistant story and characters that over the last 4 games we have come to know more about and want to build more of a knowledge about. did u watch stargate sg1? see what happened when daniel jacksons character was replaced with 'whats his face'? (see i cant even remember the characters name) so in conclusion if dmc is going to sell, why upset the fans by ignoring what makes it dmc? hope i didnt come off too strong jesuslol, but i am getting so p%$# off with whats happening with F$%^& awesome series getting the raw deal the last 4 or 5 years. its really disheartening. if they want to make a different type of game then make it, just dont slap the name of a prestigious series on it to make sales. these games are not nike, gucci, or prada. i like to think they are worth more where it counts than just a shallow display of opulense.

Okay, first up, just type in those naughty words in full - the forum censors them automatically, and '****' is a lot easier to read than a mish-mash of symbols.

Secondly, and no less importantly, paragraphs please.

Thirdly, it's not trying to be a carbon copy of the DMC of old - that's the whole point. It's a re-imagining of the game, and it's not being advertised as anything different.

You're acting like they're making a train simulator and calling it Devil May Cry, but really how different is it? Outside of the obvious cosmetic changes, and some altered weighting and pace to the combat, it still looks pretty DMC to me.

Haha what the fuck? Obviosuly you haven't payed much attention to Devil May Cry series if you think it's been anything close to Consistent.

DMC 2 and 3 couldn't be further apart in terms of quality if you tried.
DMC 4 was a mish mash of great ideas and fucking horrible execution. (And fuck that stupid fucking dice puzzle with a rusty nail)

We've had 1 good game that reinvented a genre, a fucking horrible follow up that got disowned by it's creators, an amazing follow up that polished the shit out of every good idea the first one had, and an average follow up that didn't have enough steam to carry itself through to the end boss.

Don't get me wrong there are plenty of reasons to be upset by the DMC reboot, mainly the fact that Ninja Theory suck at combat. It upsetting the consistent quality of the DMC series is not one of them though.

Another thing too benza, i didnt say that every game was a good game, i said it had a reputation for consistant story and characters.

And Karai Pantsu, why change it? Why re-invent it? Dante's characterization is so well known in various other games and media as one thing, (Marvel vs Capcom 3, Shin Megami Tensei Lucifers Call, Anime, novels, comics...etc.) Where is the evidence that this is going to be good for the series? Or is it an arrogance or lack of talent on the part of the new developers that they cant keep the established setting and further develop it?

I hear that the story is based on a prequel to the other series which is interesting since he was already a teenager in the 2nd or 3rd game?, so if it honours the back story and shows him taking up his standard style that would be cool i guess, but thats not what seem to be the case (though he is rumoured to have white hair during a devil trigger state in the new game??)

It just that too many games have been taken over by other companies that seem intent to "make it a shining example of thier own creativity" when they are just copying the work of people before them, and getting the story and atmosphere wrong. Capcom seems to be losing the plot alot lately. And this is quite possibly another example in my opinion.

But thanks for giving me your views, as i appreciate being able to give mine icon_smile.gif

There will be differences in story between this game and the existing ones. For one they are making him half demon/angel instead of half demon/human.

There could be many reasons why they decided to reboot the series like this. You keep saying why not call it something else but the game was designed from the ground up to be Devil May Cry. It will have a similar story, similar combat, similar characters etc. By rebooting/imagining it allows them to change bits and pieces while still retaining the core essence of the series.

Things need to be rebooted every now and then. Too often is bad but none gives you a bloated series stepping on its own toes. Were you as vehemently against Nolan's Batman movies because 'no-one could top Tim Bertons'? Are you against the Tomb Raider reboot?

i hear your comments jesuslol and they make sense. im completely uninterested with tomb raider but i was impressed with the new batman, point taken. But an angel and demon?? lol did the demon seduce the innocent angel? was it that uninformed or powerless? doesnt its union make the angel a demon? hope they iron that conundrum up early on icon_smile.gif

Like Lucia?
Remember Lucia?

When capcom have spent the past 8 years pretending anything and everything in DMC 2 never happened I wouldn't say it's story line is too consistent.

Or you know... the demon was a noble Demon Sparda who turned against his kind to defend humanity? You know... the basis of the plot of devil may cry?

I'm so interested to see how this game sells. Do you think it will bomb due to the reboot?

I do....

hmm benza. A reformed demon working to help humanity? yeah i can see a human woman buying that and saying lets have kids, but a fully aware angel? nah i dont see it, sorry that whole premise of demons and angels acting like humans in the new castlevania game pissed me off as well.
