E3 2011: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary announced

360 News | Master Chief and Cortana are back.

At its E3 press conference, Microsoft officially announced the HD remake of Xbox classic Halo: Combat Evolved. Titled Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, the game will be released on November 15 on Xbox 360. The shooter will feature a remastered version of what Microsoft touts as the “campaign of the century”.

The game is being made jointly by Saber Interactive and Certain Affinity. Six multiplayer maps from Halo: Combat Evolved, in addition to the Damnation map from Halo 2, will feature in multiplayer, which has been updated for Xbox LIVE. Online co-op and Firefight are also said to be part of the package.

In addition to announcing Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary at its conference, Microsoft also unveiled Halo 4.

From what I understand though, there is no multiplayer in this game at all. The multi maps are put into Reach.

It will be like the ODST / Halo 3 MP package from 2009. CE campaign on one disc, and all of Reach's MP (including the two map packs) plus the CE maps on another standalone disc. Makes sense to keep the community together, and ensures that many more people have the previously released dlc. The CE maps will probably also be available for download if you don't want the CE Anni package.

Reach is my main game, so I can't wait, as very few people in Oz have the current Reach dlc.

So if I'm reading this right, this means someone actually put in the time and effort to remake, in glorious HD, the Library level.

What? Microsoft only officially announces the game? Come on Microsoft, where are the limited edition controllers, consoles, headsets and soft drinks?

Today I heard rumors of a return of the xbox controller for it. Probably journo's trolling but lol. I am really hoping the multi plays like CE warts and all as I love those mechanics far more than current halo. Screw Dual Wielding and bring back the pistol of doom.
