Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition on the way

360 News | You know you'll buy it.
Not one to shy away from milking their popular franchises, Capcom's most recent Japanese release of Street Fighter IV, known as Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, looks to be breaking away from the arcades and onto home consoles, courtesy of a product rating and dating by the BBCF.

This updated version of Super Street Fighter IV is set to include a number of new characters, including Yun and Yang from Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Evil Ryu, and Akuma variant Oni, along with a various character balancing tweaks and new cut-scenes.

While this particular release has yet to be formally announced, the BBCF information implies that a release date of 24 June 2011 is in order. Hopefully we hear more soon.

I wonder if we'll get more content for home consoles like we did in Vanilla?

I think I'll give this a miss and hold out for SSFIV Turbo :P

Too bad this couldn't have just been DLC or something. The jump from SFIV to SSIV may have been worth paying full price for, but this doesn't sound like it is.

A: SSFIV wasn't full price, it was like 50 bucks.

B: There's nothing to say this isn't DLC. Infact Capcom said on SSFIV's release that the main reason for making it a new game was so they could leave the hooks in the code so DLC additions like this would be possible.

Also way to delete your post Adam and make me look insane icon_razz.gif

Ah, the Street Fighter series continues its great tradition of milking the cash cow dry.

Let me guess, no PC version right Capcom.

Wouldn't they have to release SSF4 on PC first before they could release the update to it on PC?

Ono on numerous interviews after SSFIV release has stated that it is the definitive and final version!

He is now moving on to other projects! Any additions would be in the form of free DLC since a fighting game can't have other players with advantages like in FPSs where you can buy upgrades!

So why release this as retail? Not happy CAPCOM!

SSFIV is still going strong online and the series didn't need another addition!

Are you talking about adding characters? Cause this isn't the first time a fighting game would have added characters via DLC, Blazblue has had DLC characters for a while, MVC 3 has them as well.

Umm, I thought they pretty much stated a month ago that the arcade will never reach a home console because of the balance issues with some of the purposely stronger characters?

Wonder how long before we get SSFIV: Super Hyper Ultra Deluxe, Championship edition DX?

EDIT: Forgot Turbo. Gotta throw Turbo in there somewhere.

Never listen to Ono, he's a massive troll. This will definitely come to consoles, but Capcom can seriously suck my dong if this doesn't include EVERYTHING; I mean all new characters, all costumes, colours etc etc etc. I'm not forking out another $79 for the same game 3 times. I'm pretty sure this will be another disc release, if it is, I'm gonna wait out on Super SFIV Hyper Turbo HD Remix Ultimate Arcade Edition.

You should ignore everything Ono says, it's like 95% ****.

I really doubt it will be. They said that Super was designed specifically with DLC like this in mind. (I think it was SKill in an interview about why it was being done as a disc release instead of DLC, Vanilla was never designed with DLC in mind and was made in such a way that it couldn't really be added, Super was made to rectify that)

But yeah if they make it another disc release I aint buying it.

A. Pretty sure it was more like $70 or $80 here on release. Maybe $50 to import though, I dunno. But yeah, I suppose not exactly full price.

B. I hope it is, but shudder to think how much it will be. They charge a fair whack just for an extra character in MVC3. 4 chars + additional cutscenes, who knows. Might not be much given the age of the game.

I imagine that each character would be a separate purchase. Probably the same price as the MVC 3 ones. With a massive patch before hand that would implement all the tweaks in the game (DAN BUFFS **** YEAH) and let you vs DLC characters online.

It will be on a disc, even if it is also DLC. They won't miss any chance for extra cash.

They are just milking it for all they can before Tag 2 gets released icon_cool.gif.

Splitting the online community once was bad enough. If it happens again, it's going to seriously undermine the future of the franchise.
