Double Fine unveils Trenched

360 News | Who is left to fight?
While they have recently spoilt us with the downloadable delights Costume Quest and Stacking, developer Double Fine is not content to rest on its laurels, with the recent announcement of their latest downloadable game Trenched at GDC 2011.

This Xbox Live Arcade title is best described as a "tower defense shooter" which will enlist players in the Mobile Trench Brigade, arming them with "a combination of mobile firepower and stationary defenses" to repel "the evil Monovision menace." These 'Trenchs' will be fully customisable, with Double Fine claiming there are "thousands of possible loadouts" on offer.

No further details have been released at the moment, but the trailer does mention that players can "march side by side with allies from around the world," giving us the impression that this title will have a multiplayer focus.

Currently Trenched has only been confirmed on the Xbox 360, but hopefully the title will see a cross-platform release. Stay tuned for further details as they develop. You can check out Trenched in action in the announcement trailer below.
