Medal of Honor sequel confirmed

360 News | That's not good enough, do it again soldier!
A blog posting from Greg Goodrich on the official Medal of Honor website has confirmed that a sequel is well under way. Danger Close is in charge of development duties once again, and they're planning to use plenty of feedback to make an improved product.

Goodrich states; "Yes, Danger Close is currently working on the next Medal of Honor". The original reboot sold over five million copies, but this second take on present-day combat will have more competition than ever before. 2011 already has Operation Flashpoint: Red River, Battlefield 3 and possibly Modern Warfare 3 challenging for top spot.

Thankfully, Danger Close has payed careful attention to the criticism aimed towards Medal of Honor; "Since our launch last October, we've studied, listened and absorbed much of your feedback and are very excited to be marching forward on the next title".

So it's official, Medal of Honor 2 is happening but we won't have any proper facts until EA or Danger Close reveals them. Until that day arrives, take a look at our review of 2010's Medal of Honor.

I don't really get the hate for MoH. I picked it up cheap from zavvi recently, and the singleplayer campaign was great. The missions based on real-life situations, authentic sound effects, weapons handling, chatter etc... unlike the CoD series which has just gotten silly and doesn't even bother to pretend to be realistic anymore. GET RAMIREZ TO DO IT etc.

Maybe it's just that I have more of an interest in this sort of thing so I appreciate the effort that went into this game... but from reading around, a lot of the bad press seemed to have been because people were too busy having a hard-on for the pre-launch Black Ops hype...

Good news I say.

I too didn't mind MOH. I think the bugs were the worst thing about it, but the single player seemed better than Quake of Duty.

Same... ok; Rangers were just an excuse for cannon fodder, and there was a few things that could of been better - but it wasn't bad.

It was a poorly designed piece of crap with the greatest sin a shooter can make. Boring shooting. The game looked bad during night, vehicle segments were horrendous and the story was really really bad. There was zero emotional link to the characters, the AI was non-existent, it was far to scripted in the worst ways and it was to easy. Besides all that it was a blatant copy with no attempt to hide it.

To be fair, that crashed Chinook level is vaguely related to a true story. A SEAL team was ambushed on top of a mountain so the Rangers were sent to rescue them, but their Chinook was shot down. Though in real life a second Chinook was there but couldn't land due to damage, so it set its Rangers down on a lower slope, and they proceeded to climb up the cliff to rescue them. Fiction is more believable than reality sometimes...

(The story can be read in the book "The Nightstalkers", which is a collection of true stories of the pilots of the black helicopters in the game, Black Hawk Down, etc)

I suppose from reading the review and some of the comments in that article/here people were disappointed because they were expecting a MW2-style epic storyline, but what they got was a more realistic "bunch of nothing happening then 5 minutes of intense battle, repeat". Real life usually doesn't usually have an end boss, but I guess that's what most people want...

I wasn't expecting a Modern Warfare 2 style game, I was expecting a GOOD game. For me, Medal of Honor wasn't a good game, just an extremely mediocre one.

We're not all CoD fanboys, hard to believe but it's true.

I haven't liked a story of the CoD games since 4. Gameplay has been good though. I like movies and books for actual depictions. Games have this sick sense of kill everything that does not gel out all with real events. Maybe when games evolve past a point where the goal is something other than kill everything and get past a line in the sand they can start telling stories that are more true to life.

More realistic? The entire game had you grouped up with no more than 4 people. Modern war is not fought like that at all.
