Call of Duty: Black Ops DLC screens arrive

360 News | First Strike DLC gets ready to deploy.
Only days away from its arrival on the Xbox 360, a bunch of new images have appeared for 'First Strike', the first DLC pack for the sales behemoth that is Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The First Strike DLC is set to hit the Xbox 360 on 1 February, and it will set you back 1200 Microsoft Points. The add-on will contain five new maps: four multiplayer maps and one zombie mode-specific map.

Currently there is no word on when the DLC will hit the PC and PlayStation 3 iterations of the popular shooter thanks to the exclusivity deal that Activision has with Microsoft, but we'll keep you posted as those details come to hand.

From the screens they look more like revised layouts of existing maps that someone has quickly knocked up in an map editor. They don't look like there's any more open space than the original set either, which was sorely lacking and rendered sniper rifles essentially useless.

Treyarch really has a thing for designing maps that are consistantly a flat surface, with a predominant amount of height differences usually coming in the form of buildings.

It looks like their level designers struggle to stop making the grid guidelines on their software dictate all of their design choices, which from my experience, is actually a bit more difficult than you think icon_confused.gif

The PS3 and PC usually gets maps a month after the Xbox with COD.
Also I hear those turrets are active in the picture with the walls first on the left in the second row (the map is called Berlin Wall).
Dunno how thats going to equate i.e. whether they're neutal, or you need hacker pro or you press a button or something.

Gametrailers showed off an extended preview, the turrets won't shoot through smoke grenades. icon_smile.gif
