Xbox Live Update - 10/08/2010

360 News | Bloody armour is bloody good.
Welcome to week number four in this year's Winter Arcade, full of downloadable goodness and a brand new game to play with. Major Nelson has focused on blood, guts, guns and dragons; and we think you'll be happy.

Deals of the Week:

Bioware's behemoth, Dragon Age: Origins, is the featured title this week. Following the same pattern that has become familiar during this Winter period, all of the following downloadable content is being reduced:

  • Dragon Age: Origins Awakening - 1600 MSP (AU$26), a saving of 45%
  • Return to Ostagar - 240 MSP (AU$4), a saving of 40%
  • Warden's Keep - 400 MSP (AU$6.50), a saving of 28%

Dragon Age: Brotherhood?

Please remember that all Deal of the Week specials are exclusive to Xbox Live Gold subscription holders.

New Release:

Another hotly anticipated title is hitting the Marketplace tomorrow night, Monday Night Combat; and unsurprisingly, the price is 1200 MSP (AU$20). The game is a futuristic third-person shooter, placing you into a gameshow scenario where you battle for cash, fame and endorsements. Monday Night Combat supports fourteen players online, where you can choose between six distinct classes in order to succeed. All of this combined with some of the most stylish graphics since Team Fortress 2 make for a promising experience. You can expect to find Monday Night Combat available for download at this time tomorrow, while the Dragon Age: Origins prices appear to be active already.

If you didn't already know, purchasing all of the Winter Arcade games will mean that a 1200 MSP reward will be heading your way. Microsoft rarely have offers like this one, so it might be worth taking into consideration.

^nope, you will need the game.

No, but I can say that it's a reasonably substantial expansion; it's not as long as the original game, but it's got a good plot, it's got some very intriguing ideas for gameplay, and the characters are pretty strong. At 26 bucks, that's excellent. Makes me wish I didn't own it already, having the digital version would be great!

Bigger issue: MONDAY NIGHT COMBAT. Oh man, I cannot wait for this game. It looks terrific! Are we going to get a PALGN group to play in?

I picked up Awakening pre-owned for $20 from ebgames and it works fine standalone which is fantastic. If you don't already have DA:O (why would you ask about the expansion?) you could have a look for the disc copy of the expansion.
A rumour is going around that a GOTY edition will be coming out in October though so keep that possibility in mind too.

was that a special Sale price or normal EB preowned retail?

Pretty sure it was going to be 2400 for expansion and it got changed to 1600 after everyone complained saying it could be bought on disc cheaper. Also seems its a 2 week deal? Hopefully it doesnt mean there is no deal next week.

Monday night should be awesome hopefully it doesnt lag and lots of aussies buy it

It was during the sale and had a $20 sticker on it, the original pre-owned price was $24 or $25. I gave my copy of DA:O to my friend in Melbourne as Awakening can run by itself off the disc.
