Castlevania: Lords of Shadow a two disk affair

360 News | Or you could just, you know, install it.
Games sure are getting big, with CVG revealing that the Xbox 360 release of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will come on two DVDs.

The reason? It's a big game. Head honcho of MercurySteam Dave Cox stated that the game's length is around twenty-four hours, with a huge variety of art assets that are rarely reused, the latter being the likely culprit for all that data.

But not everybody out there likes to get up and swap disks, so MercurySteam have offered a solution that many will already be familiar with; installation. Xbox 360 gamers will be able to install the first disk to their drive, allowing to play the full title off the second disk.

Some may think that with Hideo Kojima's involvement in the project the double disk release may be a result of cinematics, but that is not so, with confirmation that most cinematics are quite short, with the longest being the final scene coming in at around 14 minutes.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is set for a release later this year.

This is a feature that I wish other multi-disk games would incorporate. Would have been nice in Mass Effect 2.

Chalk me as "cynical" but when they say most cinematics are quite short, does that mean we're getting 200 minute-long cutscenes?

THIS JAHANZEB!499 left only! I just got one. :)

I can't wait to see how this Castlevania game plays out. I hope my expectations aren't too high for it though.

14 minutes is still a damn long cinematic, not that I am complaining but few games would have one that long. Looks like I should invest in a new hard-drive, stupid 20 gig.

I'm really, really looking forward to this. The size of the boss fights look amazing. I think it's the BD version for me though. Two discs for an action game is weird.

Why is that any weirder than an RPG? It's not like they'd have you changing discs in the middle of a boss-fight QTE or something.

2 discs for an action game is weird, you never owned an amiga then

I just thought it was strange because huge action games like RDR were only one disc and that game had a lot of real-time cutscenes (like Lords of Shadow, no FMV) along with an open environment etc.

Hell, what do I know about game storage. I just enjoy playing them.

You kids today......i think space ace on amiga was 5 or 6 discs, something 'orrible like that.
Thank god those days are over

I already regret not owning an Amiga. I feel like I would be a different man today.
