Xbox Live Update - 13/07/2010

360 News | They took our jobs!
Major Nelson has released the details on some new content hitting Australian gamers this week. The 'Winter of Arcade' is due to start next week so there's not a whole lot to talk about here, but if you like crude humour, then please keep reading.

Deal of the Week:

For the first time in recent memory, there's only one discounted title available to purchase. South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! can be purchased for 400 MSP (AU$6.50), a saving of 50%. You might have to clear some space for this one, as the file size is surprisingly large at 882 MB.

What do we have to say about South Park? Outside of it being one of the greatest comedies ever conceived, the franchise hasn't adapted well to video games. In this case, players can choose between all the major characters from the series and partake in (you guessed it) tower defense gameplay! It mightn't win any awards, but this could be the funniest strategy game available on Xbox 360.

Please remember that all Deal of the Week specials are exclusive to Xbox Live Gold subscription holders.

New Releases:

Unlike last week which saw the highly anticipated Monkey Island 2 taking over the Marketplace, this time around we aren't greeted with the same calibre of content. The first new game for the Arcade is called Deadliest Warrior, costing you 800 MSP (AU$13). Simply put, the game is a historical beat 'em up featuring the world's best known fighters. If you like the idea of Romans fighting Cherokees, then this might be for you.

The second new release is called DeathSpank, priced at 1200 MSP (AU$20). This RPG sees you taking control of a rather twisted looking Knight as he wanders through an expansive world in search of 'The Artifact'. Described as being 'one of the funniest RPG's ever created', the unique world of DeathSpank might be of interest to those of you counting down the days until Fable III arrives.

If all goes to plan, both of these games should be released tomorrow evening.

Deadliest Warrior looks and sounds pretty cool. I also heard it's got a few Avatar awards. Thinking about picking this one up, maybe icon_smile.gif
