Alan Wake's live-action prequel on the way

360 News | Welcome to Bright Falls.
The Microsoft PR juggernaut is in full swing, with news surfacing of a six-part live-action prequel to the upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive title Alan Wake.

According to Microsoft, the “Bright Falls” short film series will introduce gamers to the spooky town of Bright Falls leading up to the events of Alan Wake's story. The short films are said to focus on the goings on of a journalist named Jake. Microsoft believes that the series has a lot to offer, stating that “TV fans will find that the series evokes the same ghostly chills as Twin Peaks did when it premiered 20 years ago this month”.

The Bright Falls series will debut this weekend with the first two parts going live on April 25 for Xbox Live Gold subscribers, with Silver subscribers able to download it a day later. Those without an Xbox 360 will too be able to enjoy the short film series by visiting the official Xbox website or the Bright Falls site from April 27. Subsequent episodes are due to be released on a weekly basis, with the final two episodes going up on May 17, just prior to the game’s North American release.

Those interested can get a taste of what's to come by checking out the Bright Falls teaser trailer below:

Alan Wake is scheduled to hit our shores on 20 May.

Cool bananas, I just preordered AW so getting a video I can watch 30 times before it arrives is good news to me.

I also like how Microsoft likened it to Twin Peaks, I wouldn't be surprised if that was actually Remedy's words coming out of Microsofts mouth. Seeing as the Remedy developers seem to have mad love for Twin Peaks (so many references in the MP games).

Hell the first game had a bit of a Lynch-like feel to the dream sequences.
