F.E.A.R 3 Announced

360 News | Prepare to be spooked... and shot at all over again.
Warner Bros. Interactive has today revealed a sequel to one of Monolith Studio's biggest franchises, F.E.A.R (First Encounter Assault Recon) with the addition of F.E.A.R 3 making it's way to Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Windows PCs in the coming months.

Few details at this point have been released about the title, though it has been revealed that there will be a co-operative play, with players assuming the role of either Point Man (A genetically enhanced solider) or Paxton Fettel (A solider with telekinetic power). With horror movie director John Carpenter (Halloween, Village of the Damned) and horror scriptwriter Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) on board to help with writing the storyline and script, there's a real chance to breath some fresh life into this franchise.

The game is set for release this coming spring, though aside from that, little else is known about the title. Stay tuned with PALGN as we bring you more F.E.A.R 3 updates in the coming months.

Good news, but I'm a little wary that it's not being made by Monolith. Apparently it's being developed by Day 1 Studios who are most famous for Fracture...

Oh well, hopefully that gives Monolith more time to make Condemned 3.

the trailer they showed was live action and dumb as hell.

you know what other game had a trailer that was live action and dumb as hell?

Can't wait, I love the fear franchise

FEAR 2 was pretty bland so it wouldnt fill me with confidence if Monolith were doing it. Hopefully this goes in a different direction.
I quite liked F.E.A.R. 2, though what the fuck was up with that ending? :/

The ending had a disturbing thing happen although I have no idea what it was. After playing both games I have no idea what this game is about but they were both competent shooters. I would like it if they went back to the creepier original but the trailer doesn't give me much confidence.

I hope that Alma makes a comeback. She is the nastiest enemy that I have ever seen in a video game.

I've played through the first game numerous times and have a really good understanding of what occured throughout it, haven't played the second but for all I hear it doesn't really focus on the outcome of the first all that much.

This game could be interesting, the World behind F.E.A.R. is rich and very engrossing, so further developing of said World is win for me.

That said the co-op between the Point Man and Fettel feels like a spoiler for the second game (I'm guessing it's more a "Point Man joins Fettel's side" rather than the opposite equation, as judging by the finale of the first game that feels more logical), but meh, it's been long enough I should have played it by now

The second has so little to do with the first you'd barely notice it. Even Alma herself is no longer an icon of terror. I thought the original FEAR was a bit overrated but enjoyed it enough to invest in the sequel, and while it did some things right (much more environment variety, enemy variety), it did so many other things wrong.

It reminds me of when Hollywood remakes a Japanese horror film. Outside of a single level, FEAR 2 is less about growing tension and far more about cheap scares and big effects. Zzz.

That's coming across as you never played F.E.A.R 2 and assuming that collusion happened in the 2nd game and its a spoiler. Relax as neither Paxton Fettel nor Point Man are even part of the second game.

To understand most of the trailer, you need to clock F.E.A.R 2, to understand why Fettel is alive, play the DLC "Reborn"

Remember Perseus Mandate and Extraction Point are not canon according to Monolith because they didnt make it, which is the case for F.E.A.R 3 but has to be canon because its a full blown sequel.

I am wondering if the story that will be told is the story Monolith had planned (we know there was something along these lines given how the 2nd game ended).

For those that have never played these games, you can pick up F.E.A.R for $10 if you shop around these days, graphics didnt age but still alot of fun. F.E.A.R 2 can be obtained cheapish now too.

The story of FEAR 2 was terrible anyway.
