Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package sets DLC records on Xbox Live

360 News | Lots of stimulation.
It's been revealed that the first map pack for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 broke Xbox Live Marketplace records in the first 24 hours, with over one million gamers downloading the Stimulus Package, and over two and a half million players downloading the map pack within the first week of release.

The Stimulus Package was the first piece of downloadable content available for last year's blockbuster title Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, which itself broke sales records worldwide. Priced at 1200 Microsoft Points, the map pack included five new multiplayer maps, Crash and Overgrown, which were two classics from the first Modern Warfare title, and Bailout, Salvage and Storm, three totally new multiplayer maps.

Stay tuned for PALGN's review of the Stimulus Package, later this week.

its only beating BFBC because people had to PAY and DOWNLOAD it. Whereas the majority of the BFBC2 gamers got theirs for FREE !!

Which they didn't have to download because it was ALREADY on the disc...

Everyone makes out EA/DICE are awesome for giving people free content... when it's really just an unlock which people who didn't get the LE have to pay for... No denying it is a faaaar better game though.

Anyway I'll admit I'm a dirty **** and obliged to Activision's ridiculous demands, only because I had to. I'm not proud of it don't worry but the maps are probably some of the best in the game. So it was half worth it. I'll tell myself that anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this for ALL DLC? Regardless of pricing?
Either way your theory is a bit stupid. If people had a choice of paying for something or getting it for free, which one would more people download? The free one obviously. Which in this case, hasn't happened.

It makes me laugh every time I read the title of this map pack. What's even worse is that one of the maps is called 'Bailout'. Do you think that Activision is taking the piss? MUCH! I guess they have to make up for their losses on DJ Hero and Tony Hawk RIDE.

I certainly won't be buying it, but to be fair though, if you are a COD nut and play 1000 hours on the thing then 1200 points seems reasonable. In contrast the ME2 Kasumi DLC is 560 pojnts and from what I hear is only about 1 hour long.

Each to their own I guess.
