Modern Warfare 2 DLC priced

360 News | Map details within.
The previously announced first hit of downloadable content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has now been priced and detailed with Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling spilling the beans in Episode 353 of Microsoft's Major Nelson Podcast.

Titled the 'Stimulus Map Pack', this first downloadable add-on for the popular shooter will set gamers back 1200 Microsoft Points when it hits the Xbox 360 on 30 March. Bowling also gave away some details on the contents of the map pack. Players who purchase the Stimulus Map Pack will get their hands on five additional multiplayer maps for the title, two of which will be fan-favourites 'Crash' and 'Overgrown' from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The other three maps will be titled 'Bailout,' a map which will feature a multi-storey apartment complex; 'Storm,' which will feature an industrial park peppered with heavy machinery to take cover behind and finally there is 'Salvage,' a snowy junkyard environment which will be full of crushed vehicles and assorted debris.

"They're slightly reworked, but we didn't make any major changes," Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling said of the two returning maps. "These are maps that we love, and we didn't want to go messing with that formula...we just upped the graphics a bit and added in all the new stuff we added in for Modern Warfare 2 as a whole."

While the Xbox 360 release date for the content is known, just exactly when this new Modern Warfare 2 content will be released on the PC and PlayStation 3 still remains under wraps.

They should really released it for free, like DICE did with BF BC2.

No one should really be surprised. If you bought MW2 then you're already telling Activision that you're OK with this.

can anyone tell me why anyone would bother paying for dlc for cod when there is bfbc2 to be played?

There goes MW2 multiplayer down the drain and into a deep craphole.

Whenever the 360 gets paid DLC, it throws multiplayer off completely into a **** storm

Is it just me or is calling $20 for 3 brand new maps far from being a "Stimulus Package" for anybody other than Activision? >_>

i don't know where i heard this, but i heard somewhere that they were going to release a free dlc? so my hopes were good, and now...

I certainly will not pay $20 to get more maps especially when i already have to pay to go on xbox live!

5 maps that cost 1/4th the price of the full game, which included a hell of a lot more than 5 maps. Yet all the obsessed COD fans will line up to buy it without even thinking, and Activision will make even more money. Really sucks.

if i wanted to play COD4 maps i would friggin play COD4. if they were released free then it would be alright, but for most of us we are just paying twice for something we already own. DLC is getting crazier and crazier, its just a shame that people will still buy this, thus encourage more crap DLC in the future

all the cod4 maps should be free with this game. Games out there have level editors and they expect 20 bucks for 3 maps. Seriously how hard is it to make a map? I mean the AI is other people. This is stupid. BF all the way.

A high quality map still is a lot of work, but it doesnt change the fact Activision are reeming consumers.

I really, really hope even the biggest MW2 fans here wont buy it. I know it can be tempting when the game is played frequently and so many others will pick this up, but buying it is sending your dollar (which does matter) towards a company with a strong anti-consumer business model.

Just dont buy it. Stick up for the little guy!

Why the hell would you buy old maps? 3 new ones is nothing either. A good map does indeed take some work, but for the price..hilarity.

Go grab yourself a copy of MW1 if you don't have it already, and play some good maps there. The first is superior in balance and gameplay by a huge margin anyway.

I probably will buy it, MW 2 is the main game i'm playing on the ps3.

If the map rotation isn't bad (in terms of ALWAYS selecting one of the DLC maps as the current map to play on), i'll tolerate it so i can keep playing on the regular maps.

But if the map rotation happens to rotate on a new map every second round, i'll be buying it. I don't have a huge problem with doing it as i said in my opening line.... i've been addicted to MW 2 since buying it on the ps3.

I do agree that it is a dog's breakfast on the 360, havn't played that version for awhile.

Why is it called Stimulus Map Pack? An injection to their profits?

The price would be a non-issue for me if the 360 matchmaking was fixed. It works fine on my PS3 (following the PS3-only fix), though I cop red and yellow bar lag virtually every match on 360. I don't know how so many Aussies are still willing to play this game - let alone consider paying for DLC.

Forget the maps I want a patch for the 360 so its not a lagfest!!

fourzerotwo has said the patch will be coming out before the DLC, http://twitter.com/fourzerotwo/status/10193335194
