Alan Wake release date announced

360 News | Let's just hope it keeps to the date.
With about 5 years worth of development time, hype and previews, the highly anticipated psychological from Remedy Games, Alan Wake is just about finished and now has an official release date, for North America and Europe.

Slated for release on 18 May for North America, and 21 May for Europe, Alan Wake is also be coming with a Limited Edition, though we're not sure whether it'll ever come to the land Down Under. The Limited Edition will feature:

  • Game Disc in box with unique art
  • Exclusive In-Game Audio Commentary and Hints by Remedy
  • "The Alan Wake Files" – a 144pg book that includes a short story written by Alan Wake and compiles the FBI dossiers investigating the events in Bright Falls, WA
  • Exclusive Audio Disc with Soundtrack and Score
  • Game Add-on token redeemable on Xbox LIVE for the first Alan Wake add-on content pack
  • Exclusive Xbox disc with special content: Alan Wake Xbox Live Theme and Alan Wake Avatar for Xbox LIVE

With the release date now official, let's just hope that the European date also includes us.

This actually looks like a really worthwhile Limited Edition. I assume it will make it down here, though probably as an EB exclusive.

Really hope this one turns out as wel as it's promising.

Geez, thats sudden. I wasn't expecting this till the end of yr, esp with the lack of advertising for it lately.

The CE looks interesting, esp the book.

I was expecting "the day before Duke Nukem Forever." icon_sad.gif

I don't know if this will be able to live up to years of hype, or the expectations that come from constant delays.

Generally with Remedy it's not about delays (from what I recall this is the first actual announcement of a release date) it's about working on the thing until it's perfect, it's why Max Payne took frigging years to come out as well (the sequel less so, but the groundwork had already been laid) and I have no doubts that Alan Wake will continue this trend. I loves my Remedy Entertainment!

This also explains why the release is so soon, they give a release date when they've got a game worth releasing, obviously they think it's ready so it's pretty much finished in terms of development (hell it probably is and it's just post production stuff now).

Can't wait. I'll stick to the normal version though. Too many other games to purchase as well.
