Sonic the Hedgehog 4 revealed

360 News | Project Needlemouse unveiled for XBLA, PSN and WiiWare.
For all of you who've been scratching your head over Sega's enigmatic Project Needlemouse codename for their next Sonic title, wonder no more. The project has been officially revealed as Sonic the Hedgehog 4, as reported by Gamespot.

The game has been announced for XBLA, PSN and WiiWare, but there's a catch - it's episodic. The first episode will hit the online stores in winter, with online leaderboards and motion control included for the Wii and PS3 versions.

You can check out the first trailer for the game embedded in this article.

Will this be it? The Sonic game we've always wanted?

I don't know, the animation looks really rough, almost claymation style.

Where's Classic Sonic? All I see is that Sonic Advance/Rush version; I genuinely thought they were going to bring back the old Sonic design.

Oh well, as long as the level design is better than Sonic Rush.

Hope the motion controls are optional, otherwise I'll have to get it on the 360 and play with an arcade stick.

Not sure if it's a bad decision more so that it's not quite the right one. There on the right track....

should just overhaul 1,2 & 3 with the same HD graphics and release it as a pack or something with #4...

They are bringing Sonic back, and with the old-style logo. Does this mean that SEGA is going back to the 90's?

Yep, free Delorean with every purchase for that more authentic feel.

That's just to match the animation style of 90's Sonic. It's actually quite good in my eyes, but each to his own...

Episodic is good for them (publisher & devs) but bad for us. If it's actually a decent Sonic title, I might wait until all episodes are out. Theoretically - only being able to play three Zones and then being forced to wait till the next batch is pretty stupid, seeing as it takes less than a few minutes to beat an Act.

there is more than an entire decade between the last game and this one.

I fin listing the 1990's years then hitting straight into 2010.

It looks like a bad add.
I might get it it.
maybe...

I think we all knew this was going to happen sooner or later, especially since Sega already had Capcom's Megaman 9 to follow. Whether it will be any good remains to be seen, but I don't see how it could be much worse than the recent games. Colour me hopeful. icon_smile.gif
