Mass Effect won't end as a trilogy

360 News | Well, duh.
Though initially announced as a trilogy Mass Effect, developer BioWare has confirmed that the space-oriented franchise will continue after the third entry.

In the latest installment of Kotaku Talk Radio, BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk stated that the Mass Effect IP is a "valuable universe" and that the conclusion of Commander Shepard's tale will not necessarily serve as an endpoint for the franchise.

"We're actually going to continue to use [the Mass Effect universe] for stuff and we're going to continue to make games there. We have our work cut out for us for the next little while getting Mass Effect 3 done after this" assuring fans that "if you love Mass Effect, there will be more Mass Effect in the future."

I have this image in my head of Mass Effect still being played after I've been able to download my consciousness into a virtual world and live forever. It's without doubt (for me) the greatest game ever created.

I look at people who own a 360 and haven't played through Mass Effect now as mere ants who will not make it into the network before the zombies come to take them away.

I have this image in my head of Mass Effect still being played after humanity begins to sail the stars and have sexual relations with a myriad of multicolored aliens.

"Geeze, honey. Why can't you be more like Liara?" "Because for the last time, consciousness-melding just doesn't work like that. GODDESS, you humans."

Looking forward to Mass Effect and Dragon Age sequels. Bioware make great rpgs. They'll be getting my money for a long time to come I think.

Hopefully they will be quality titles and not dodgy spin-offs.

A few years ago this is the kind of thing developers would keep to themselves. Now they just come straight out and say it. "Oh yeah, we're going to keep exploiting everything until it is no longer profitable". "Yeah, we were going to include it in the main game but then we thought we might get more money if we sold it as launch day DLC".

Because they are charging so much money for launch day DLC. You do know what all DLC at launch will be free if you purchase a new version of the game. Think of it more as a gift to people buying it new than 'screwing' people who buy it used.

When Bioware announced they were doing an MMO i was praying it was a Mass Effect mmo rather than KOTOR. Not that i don't think kotor would be good, but a post ME1 story galaxy would ne aaaawwwwwsome.
